I enter the first number that comes into my head.... usually 3.  I'm not sure why.... I guess I just like the number 3.  Four is good, but it just doesn't have the panache that 3 has.  5 is right out.

Looks like work for Eric.
Ideally we’d be able to enter price paid; applicable taxes, shipping etc separately and then look at 100% like to like comparisons.  Except for the nasty currency issue.
Some serious longer term work I feel, this thread shows that CT members prices are not strictly comparable.

What I've decided to do for the time being is enter in the retail price as the price paid, but in the purchase notes, add the tax and shipping.  That way I've got it all itemized for insurance purposes, but I'm not artificially inflating the "retail" cost of the bottle.

This whole conversation is moot until a solution for the bottle size problem is implemented.  A few percentage point difference of shipping and tax is trivial compared to all the incorrect bottle sizes recorded in inventory.
