Jimmy,

Another (possibly quicker) way to enter bottles that you consume but don't purchase is to do the following:

1) On the CT page for the appropriate wine, select "Edit my bottles" (rather than "Add new bottles").
2) On the Edit Inventory page, select "Edit consumed bottles" (rather than "Add Bottles").
3) Fill in the consumption details in the ADD dialog.
4) Hit "Update and Done".

When you do this, CT appears to automatically create the null purchase record with price of $0 and store of unknown. In any case, with Eric's latest site mods, the purchase record doesn't show up unless you go digging for it.

Eric, I'm not sure if the workflow I just outlined is "by design", or if it just happens to work. In any case, it's nearly as quick as the old "Add consumption", so I'm happy with it for bottles that don't require meaningful purchase info

Cheers,

Francis

Francis, that scenario as you sketched it out is working as expected, but it is a bit buried on purpose. I have had problems in the past with people "adding a consumed bottle" and not understanding why this isn't drinking down one of their existing bottles.

Eric,

I understand the problem of ensuring that consumption of bottles already in inventory is as clear as possible... I can see why you buried the ability to create consumption without associated inventory. Still, I'm happy to have figured it out, as it works well for me!

Cheers,

Francis

BTW, a few weeks ago I added an extra hyperlink to the inventory drilldown to let you bulk-relocate bottles of that wine EXACTLY as you used to do.
