What's with all this cellar and storage talk?

Doesn't everyone just drink 'em as soon as they get 'em like I do?

How many CUBIC feet?  L x W x H

10 foot walls to cathedral ceiling, octagon shaped with 6 foot wall width, double glass doors.  Records suggest 200 square feet.  Oh, BTW, wet bar on one wall.

Oops, you wanted cubic feet?  Get back to you in the morning with cubic feet.  Beddy bye time now.

Pete,
Ya, those PG bottles look more like decorations or glass making hobbies.
btw..nice cellar....what is underneath the colorful picture? Is that the cooling system?

Close enough: 201.3 sq ft for a 6' sided octagon.

Speaking of odd-sized bottles: a friend of my wife gives her a bottle of Pinot Grigio in an exotic bottle every Christmas. You can see some of the empties on the shelf. We drink these fairly soon after we get them, but what if we had to cellar those odd-balls?

Neat bottles.  What make temperature/humidity monitor are you using?  I think that's it on the shelf with the exotic bottles, correct?

Oh, BTW, what's with the coke case in the bottom left of the picture?  Yeah, and is that your cooling system below the picture...fairly large, eh?

Oops, you wanted cubic feet?

I figured 201+ sq ft, so it's 2010 Cu ft plus whatever the cathedral ceiling adds.
A cone is 1/3 the volume of a similar diameter/height cylinder; that will do for an approximation.
Say the ceiling is 13 ft in the center, that would add another 200+ cubes, so call it 2210 cu ft.

That's an efficient shape: about the same size in every dimension (13-14'). Very good for minimizing
surface area per volume. You might need a ladder for the higher racks, though.

Thanks, the builder is coming out this week to give me an estimate.  Unfortunately, while he is my 'regular' guy, he knows nothing about building wine cellars and would have to start from scratch regarding his knowledge base.  Wondering if I should just expain to him the seriousness of accuracy on this construction and go with a 'know reputable' company.

Pete,
I notice you have a table to work in the cellar.  Do you have a heat source for just above the table, or just work in the cool.  I keep my work shop at 55 F, but we are moving around, not just sitting, I keep the office @ 60 and sometimes wear an over-shirt.  Back to the cellar, I like to survey the wines and organize, sometimes just reflect.  Some go fishing, I play with wine.  I should add that your's is a wish list, mine very humble.  I have plans that illicit the "over my dead body" comments from the wife.  That said, a lot of my plans get that response.
If the cellar/gazebo is stand alone, how about a double door air lock entry similar to the cold climate entrances?  Here we want to keep the warm out instead of the cold.
Ciao, Dennis
