Lots of little tweaky-tweaky changes today along with some long overdue love for the Excel web queries. FIT AND FINISH (1) I broke out Country, Region, SubRegion and Appellation as separate columns in a new 'raw' view of the Excel web query. While I was at it I broke out all of the other wine columns as well. (2) I made some changes to how Response.Flush every 250 rows to avoid occasional "Response limit exceeded" errors when outputting a very long list. (3) I now treat Blackberry devices like PocketPC's with a scaled down navigation model. (4) You can now pass your username and password to the site on a URL (&User=####&Password=####). This is potentially useful for some Mac folks who are running into glitches with Excel cookie support. I also tweaked things so that guests don't get a cookie by default. (5) Taking advantage of the new support for passing the username and password in via the querystring, I built a new Excel spreadsheet with parameterized web queries. What this means is that you now enter your username and password into the spreadsheet, and then you no longer have to worry about cookies etc. (6) In the pending delivery view I no longer show the text "Due" next to a delivery/purchase date when they are the same. (7) Web queries now show a useful error message in the case where you are not logged in. (8) Yet more tweaking of the new wine editing UI. Per Pat Lee's suggestion, when setting a non-vintage wine or blanks for Designation, Vineyard, SubRegion and Appellation, there is now a button to set the field as blank. Hopefully this will be fully discoverable AND work well in browsers other than IE. (I had a pretty cute enabling & disabling model that used some script, but alas it seemed to break in a lot of non-IE browsers.
