These notes are a belated report of changes that went live last Thursday evening. FIT AND FINISH (1) I did a significant and long overdue cleanup up the editing model for inventory. Now the dropdowns and edit controls are broken out quite clearly for editing current bottles versus adding new ones. This fixes the very annoying problem whereby you had to explicitly pick your cellar location on EVERY edit lest the bottles get set to "Cellar" or whatever was first in your list. I also now disable controls appropriately and also provide some context sensitive help, for example urging people to add a purchase instead of raw inventory if they want to track price data. (2) I am currently planning to retire per-bottle DrinkBy values in favor of per-wine drinking windows. For now I have disabled the user interface to create new ones. (3) While I was at it, I cleaned up a number of small quirks in consumption editing. (4) The mailing address for payment by check is now exposed (too many people sending email on this one). (5) I made some subtle changes to the UBB formatting that the site generates when publishing a tasting note. I also made it so that the proposed title of an eRobertParker post is now populated if you are publishing a note on a single wine. DRINKING WINDOWS From the main cellar list, you can now drilldown to the drinking window page with one click. This page now also shows the full hierarchy of drinking dates so that it is more clear where these are coming from (professional reviews, community averages, personal override etc). I have also deprecated the per-bottle DrinkBy field, and I am going to map all of these values over to the personal drinking windows. For now, I have removed the editing user-interface for these. Database cleanup will follow over the next week. WEB QUERIES I continued to clean up the web-query. Now the drinking window data is shown on the 'raw' list. The regular list tab is removed since it is duplicative. I now expose the per-bottle data in the raw format with more columns broken out.
