REPORTING (v2.4.29)
(1) Now the query grammar supports searching by vintage range (e.g. between 1982 and 1990), upper bound (e.g. 1990 and older), or lower bound (e.g. 2000 and younger).
(2) I now expose color (Red, White, Rose, Other) and Category (Sparkling, Dry, Sweet/Dessert, Fortified, and Other) as queryable parameters.

TYPE CLEANUP (v2.4.29)
Based on some very vocal feedback, I have cleaned up the values used in the "Type" field quite a bit. I have added new categories for fortified wines, and I also introduced an off-dry category for white wines to better handle things like Alsatian Vendange Tardive and German Spatlese and Auslese (which really were not entirely at home as either Dessert or Dry wines). I also cleaned all of the Kosher categories out and instead used the Designation field to denote this. (These were quite cluttering in the type dropdown, yet out of 42,000 wines we had fewer than 100 Kosher wines in the database.) So now the complete roster of types (organized by category) looks like this:
  • Sparkling: Rose, White, Red
  • Dry: Rose, White, White - Off-dry, Red
  • Sweet/Dessert: Rose, White, Red
  • Fortified: Red, White, Liqueur
  • Other: Fruit/Vegetable Wine, Non-alcoholic

Using these new types I cleaned up several thousand wines in bulk to fit the new categories. I am sure there is more case-by-case stuff we need to handle, but we have a really good start now.

FIT AND FINISH (v2.4.29)
(1) When printing barcode labels, valuations now show up and $0.00 prices are suppressed.
(2) I fixed some display weirdness that would occur for non-Burgundy wines what had their designation starting with "Grand Cru".

FIT AND FINISH (v2.4.28)
(1) The cellartracker.com/phone site now properly handles producer subsorting (so all of the Chateau Foo producers don't end up on the C page.
(2) I tweaked the display of the Locale so that repeated values in the Region, SubRegion and Appellation are suppressed. So for example, what used to be (Champagne, Champagne, France) is now just (Champagne, France).
(3) I did a LOT of cleanup on all of the regional information for ALL of the Bordeaux wines. Things look a lot, LOT better now!
