TASTING NOTES
Do you ever wonder how many people have read your tasting notes? Now you can know, as the site maintains hit counts for each tasting note and event. Now we'll see just how much traffic we get. (Logged in users don't increment their own view count.)

Is this really possible to know? When you bring up a wine page, the tasting notes are there, but are they read? When someone has "All Tasting Notes" set as their default page, notes may be displayed, but are they read? Also, this change (or some other recent change) has made the "View My Tasting Notes" query very slow. I suspect this change is meant to encourage the posting of notes by providing positive feedback, but I am not certain this is the best way to do that. I'll give it some more thought.

View counts appear to be a very popular feature of some bulletin boards, so I am experimenting with them here. You are current that they are really just render counts, and there is no guarantee how much of the note was read. In the future I plan to introduce a simple rating model where a user can say if they found a note helpful.
