RESTAURANT CHANGES
With this release I further fleshed out the restaurant support including:

  • The ability for a restaurant to have a public wine list.
  • Editing UI to add, edit and delete threshold rules.
  • Editing UI to add, edit and delete price overrides.
  • A unified page showing both the markup rules AND the overrides in effect.

At this point The Pluckemin Inn which opened yesterday is the first restaurant to exercise this functionality.

I will admit to often selecting the wine for a meal, or bringing in my own, and then seeing what on the menu will compliment the wine choice. Having the option of looking at a current restaurant list before arrival, sorting by region, type, CT scores, etc etc is spectacular. Will it be possible, or desirable by the restaurant to also display their wine list prices? I toggled show/hide prices but that didn't seem to do anything. I am not asking to see acquisition prices but rather for what I can expect when I dine at that establishment. The drinking window information will also prevent unpleasant surprises as well as the CT tasting notes. Imagine that this will be a big help to the wait staff too (push the 2002 Caymus, we have 156 bottles in the cellar!!)

Where is Pluckemin Inn? Clicked on their listing under users but it is not linked to their website or any other information about location. Post Google, the question is where is Bedminster, NJ? Their listing in opentable.com popped up; as more and more restaurants sign up for this added value feature, having an active link to Opentable would be ideal!

David, Pluckemin Inn (formerly called The Plucky by locals) is a recently renovated property in Bedminster, NJ. They tore this down to the studs, and what they have rebuilt is GORGEOUS with a massive, three story cellar. It is a shrine, and Brian the sommelier has done a great job with their list and their pricing. You can see them on OpenTable here: http://www.opentable.com/rest_profile.aspx?rid=3781

Currently I have created tools that make it easy for them to generate their menu prices, and you can see that here. Alas, the standard CellarTracker views don't currently show prices from other members, and it will be a little while before I can plumb that. So, you can't easily navigate and filter their list AND see their public prices at the same time. All in good time. The Plucky is my pioneer in this space, and when I feel like I have their requirements totally nailed then I will think about going after other restaurants. First I want to make sure I have a complete handle on their needs though.
