v 3.6.5 Sorry, these are somewhat belated notes, as the changes took effect on 6/20. This release was all about improvements to the grouped or summarized views (a.k.a. 'pivots' for those that are familiar with Pivot tables in Microsoft Excel). I made dozens of improvements including: - Now for all of the grouped reports, one of the 'pivotable' parameters is "Individual wine" which is a combination of vintage, wine and locale. This in essence makes it possible to make much deeper pivots, basically 5 deep, since this field combines multiple pieces of information. The display is also much cleaner than trying to group by vintage, wine name and locale.
- There is now equality between flat and pivoted views for purchases and tasting notes. It used to be the case that you could group something (e.g. the month the tasting note was written), then click to drill down. All was good. However, in the past if you then went to group again (e.g. by Producer), the grouped view didn't support the Month as the filtering parameter. There were a dozen or so parameters that did not have equality, but that should be all set now.
- I also exposed more pivotable parameters for all of the pivots. For example, purchase date, delivery date, price, tasting note score etc. For whatever reason, there were a dozen or so things that could have been exposed that never had been.
I also spent some time cleaning up tasting note reporting in general. - Grouped tasting note reports are much cleaner now with the count of view relegated to a tooltip.
- The grouped tasting note reports now also have filtering parameters for example to require an underlying number of ratings in order to be included as well as a top-X parameter. Using this, now you can see nice reports such as the all-time top-rated wines on CellarTracker with at least 10 notes. Just for kicks, a cached version of this is also exposed on Wine-Searcher.com: http://www.wine-searcher.com/valan?referring_site=CLT
- The "Notes from other users" feature has been overhauled a bit and made more consistent/integrated with other tasting note views. Now you can switch to it easily and then pivot and filter it which was not possible before.
