A few things here: - A rather dramatic performance improvement regarding the adding/editing/deletion of bottles. See more here: http://www.cellartracker.com/forum/CellarTracker_Performance_Concerns/m_12886/tm.htm
- I nipped a few other items at the same time. On the inventory editing screen there is now a running count of bottles next to the checkboxes. This makes it easier to check off 10 bottles of consume etc.
- The Purchase creation screen now caps the quantity at three digits (999 bottles). At some point I hope to add fancier support so that each user can set a reminder threshold (e.g. if I try to add more than 24 bottles of a wine that is likely a typo so please prompt me). Today it's not a rare occurrence for someone to make a typo and add 3,000 bottles. The good news now is that you can at least clean up from that in 500 bottle increments, about 15 seconds a shot. Before it used to required you to check 30 checkboxes at a time. Phew!
- A few places on the site would throw errors if you checked checkboxes next to more than a few hundred items (for relocation, deletion etc.) Well now it will no longer error, although it may only act on the first several hundred items due to some internal limits. I now have a plan for how I can fix that once I upgrade the site to SQL 2005.
That's all for now. Please do give me feedback in the performance thread, as I really want to make some headway here.
