PROFESSIONAL CONTENT: TANZER AND FOR THE LOVE OF PORT With this release, I have completely rebuilt the integration with Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. In doing so, this will now allow me to more easily integrate other sources of copyrighted information (with the partnership and blessing of the copyright holder of course). I have also taken the opportunity to roll in a full redrop of all of the IWC reviews, the first such redrop I have taken from scratch in 2 years. (This will allow me to pick up any corrections in their database which have occurred over the past 2 years.) Assuming I did my job right, nothing should have changed. However, since I touched a lot of code there is a reasonable chance that I broke something. So be on the lookout for missing reviews, wines with reviews but no top level score appearing in the MY CELLAR view or any other unexpected behavior with the Tanzer/IWC content. FOR THE LOVE OF PORT The first new 'channel' to take advantage of this is Roy Hersh's For The Love of Port. I just integrated 1,000 new reviews on Port, Madeira and Douro reds. For the moment these are largely hidden, although paying members of CellarTracker will see scores on wine drilldown pages. I have a handful of folks taking a deeper 'beta' look, and in a few days I will officially unveil the feature. MISCELLANEOUS - I also switched data-types for all currency handling on the system to better accomodate very large YEN values. A simple enough change but it touched a LOT of spots.
- We have locked down the ability to add new vineyards in Burgundy. They are pretty much all in there. People like to make messes. Now it will be much harder for them to do so.
Lots more fun stuff coming soon. It feels great to have my hands back in a LOT of code!
