2020 Tablas Creek En Gobelet

Paso Robles Adelaida District Red Rhone Blend more

-- decanted approx. 30 min. before initial taste --
-- tasted non-blind over 2 - 3 hrs. --
-- 37% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 22% Syrah, 11% Counoise, 5% Tannat --

NOSE: dark red berries, with slightly smoky/savory underpinnings.

BODY: dark ruby color; medium-light to medium bodied.

TASTE: juicy red fruits --- this speaks of Grenache; hint of smoky/savory carries from the Nose on to the palate; savory strawberry, and a touch leafy; 14.0% alc. well-hidden; medium concentration of fruit; light tannins and medium acidity; Drink Now and over the near term. I liked this well enough, but it was nearly $50 after club discount, and I can't honestly say I liked it any more than I would numerous CdRs at [less than] half the price.

This wine has a ton of acidity. A bit too much for my palate. Had it with Parmesan crusted pork chop and I could still taste the acidity

What KESKENAZI said. Did not decant and didn't seem to need it. It drank really well. Avoid pairing with foods with lots of black pepper. We paired this with tri-tip with Montreal-style steak seasoning, but thankfully didn't use a liberal amount.

Beautiful and rustic bouquet with herbs and spices. On the palate juicy red berries, fresh acidity and some chocolate. Beautiful and mature wine wit still great freshness. Drink it over the next 2 – 3 years.

Wonderful, aromatic, balanced, refined, lovely flavors, aromas of raspberry, cherry, and beautifully balanced with dinner of homemade pizza this evening (Paul Hollywood's crust recipe), this wine was one of the best I've had in quite awhile. Outstanding! 94+

Very nicely aged, complex cherry fruit, medium body but very well balanced. Fruit is quit diminished but the complex earth tones are tasty.

I prefer their regular Grenache Blanc much more. Lacks the intensity and balance. Astringency overpowers the fruit.

A solid GSM blend with a splash of Counoise. A nice sidekick to tonight’s salmon and will likely continue to soften over the next decade. Drink now to 2035. Worth Seeking Out.

I thought I liked Roussanne, maybe not. Drank majority of this on day 2 as I figured it needed to open up. Interesting waxy mouthfeel. Nose and flavors hard to pin down. Not bad at all, I just thought it would be something different.

Very Good++/Excellent-
Drank nicely over two nights. Reminds me a bit of Tablas Vermentino (a high complement). Nice combination of crispness, minerality, and stone fruits. Screwcap. Probably best to drink sooner rather than later.

Interesting now. At nearly nine years, not what I was expecting on PnP and I wouldn't have called in Tablas or guessed Mourvedre blind. Bright and mid-weight, cherry, some red fruits. I decided to decant and vigorously aerate in the decanter a couple of times. The half hour+ helped reveal touches of depth and with our meal and over a couple hours it reached towards a more typical profile. Only now have I glanced at the most recent Tablas Creek vintage chart that recommends decanting! Still, even a couple hours in we'd get visits from vanilla and sweet tones. Some earth and soil came in towards the end.

This is my first of two and my intent is to lay the other one down another 4-5 years. Even though it's not particularly tannic nor especially deep, Tablas wines even when mid-weight often age really well.

Right now this is a good wine - and it was a really nice choice with a small dinner of lightly seasoned baby back ribs with white beans. Very good, really, but not particularly noteworthy.

Ruby in the glass notes of garnet developing at the edges, nose of red fruit bit of spice, palate is dry, red plum, raspberry, note of bramble, dried berry, baking spice, cedar, note of vanilla, tannins are mature, acidity bright, medium body, long finish. Very nice.
