Nobody could guess the wine was predominantly Merlot, which has been elegantly mastered by Aaron Pott at Blackbird Vineyards. Balanced and well integrated dark fruits with smooth, silky tannins. Long finish. Really lovely! |

Absolutely delicious and complimented our Christmas dinner of honey ham, potatoes au gratin, broccoli casserole and pear, pecan and blue cheese salad. 64 Merlot, 34 Cabernet Franc, 2 Cabernet Sauvignon. Luscious dark berries balanced with minerality. Big wine with noticeable but smooth tannins and mid to long finish. Not typically a big merlot fan but this wine and this vineyard is a favorite. |

I think the adage of “the sum being greater than the total of the component parts” applies here, with the addition of the Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend enhancing color, structure, and body. Drinking at peak at twelve years: dried black and red fruits; licorice; old cigar tobacco; stale dark chocolate; taut leather; and crusty, dried loam. Although the fruits are mostly mature, there’s still considerable tannin and acidity keeping this fresh. Ends long. Drink now, unlikely to improve; however, this should drink well for another 1-2 years. Would purchase again. |
