I expected good things, and got more than I expected. A really good wine, balanced and complex with fantastic flinty stone underpinning and ripe fruit with good acidity. Wish I could still find this producer in the US. Super solid.

This smells nice, with berries, spice and, though I don’t think you can smell minerals, something that suggests minerality.

Young and structured, with red raspberries and later darker toned berries. Almost salty minerality. This is pretty good, but I’ll wait a while before opening another. I’d suggest holding.

On day two, this was much more open and ready to go.

I have already gone through half a case of this and just realized I hadn't posted a note yet. I am still relatively new to Audoin's wines, as the 2019 vintage was the first time I tried one of his rose's, but in that short time frame, he has become one of my annual case purchases, on a par with Boulay and Pibarnon when it comes to French rose'.

This has a pretty, citrus-inflected nose, and is lighter-bodied with good acidity on the palate. The kind of wine you don't feel guilty chugging - at least I don't ;^)

Brickish ruby red, transparent. Moderately pronounced nose of red fruit, oaky spice. Bright acid, dominant oak on the palate with red cherry fruit. It's pinot, but it's not exciting. For 2021, feels tired already. A big disappointment.

I’m somewhat on the fence with this wine - the last time I tried it, I had a glass of the Audoin Clos du Roy first, which tended to emphasize this wine’s shortcomings. I did not repeat that error today, as I tried this before the Salomon.

And don’t get me wrong here - this is a nice wine. But because Marsannay is viewed as a “less favored” locale in terms of white burgundy wine pricing, you can get the next tier of wine from this producer for only $10 more a bottle. And while I am a big fan of cellar defenders, when the price for the single vineyard wine is as minimal as that, I honestly think you are better served by spending the extra bucks and getting the more complex wine.

This has a really pretty, almost profound, red-fruity profile with a bit of both a Volnay violets, perfume, and Gevrey-earth type profile. As AM said, this might give some 1er crus a run for their money. This bottle seemed quite hot on the first and third night open-this is the fourth-and it's finally settled down. Very impressive, and much more serious than the other Marsannays I've tried. Will the Favieres be as good eventually?

Zippy lemon leads the charge, followed by a touch of perfumed peach and a drying, lip-smacking finish. For me this had a notably oily-unctuous mouthfeel, yet paradoxically it was not heavy at all (Burghound’s “density” I guess). 13% Alc.

Great stuff and likely to develop and improve with time.
Tasty white Burg from Marsannay? Who knew?! Audoin continues to impress.

With very few exceptions (Pibarnon comes to mind), in my mind most Rose' wines should be consumed within a year of release. While they certainly evolve, they also tend to lose that liveliness that makes them so attractive as a youngster.

This is still an enjoyable bottle, but it doesn't have the verve it possessed a year or so ago. Note to self - find and consume the rest of my stash soon.

Had over two days. There’s a little bit of vanilla/oak on the nose that should integrate with more time. Fairly full-bodied, but not over the top. Red fruit, cherries. Very silky. Really nice at the price point.

Bought at the winery for 18 euros after a tasting there 15 months ago. Pale pink; fragrant red stone fruit nose (Pinot Noir based) that follows on the palate, hint of red cherry, fat for a rose' and good mouthfeel. With PN base unusual for us--delicious, might grow on me. Likely the memory enhanced the taste. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

I tend to avoid PN based Rose due to a number of OK/not great cougar-juice renditions from CA, which tend to be boring even when they aren't excessively sweet or rounded into nothingness by superfluous malo.

This Audoin Marsannay OTOH has a whiff of minerals on its relatively effusive nose, presenting a range of red berry fruit with a bit of welcome crunch on the palate and zing on the finish. A perfect wine for moroccan grilled chicken or any summer day. A rather good deal @ $15, wish I had stocked up as it's back to $25 and worth about that.

Better with air and as it warmed up. I think it will be better with a bit of bottle age. I definitely got the minerally bits here. Fruit seemed a tad thin until it was open for a couple of hours.

Surprised at how very fruity this was (interesting though as another person in the group said what she liked were the minerals but I didn't really get those). For me it was much more intense. Lots of ripe raspberry. And almost an herbal side to it that felt like an extracted ... struggling to figure out what that ending flavor is. It's a wine that had me very split - at times I thought I enjoyed it and at times it felt just a bit over the top.

A year since my last bottle. The notes are pretty much the same. The bottle had not developed much during the past 12 months.

Ruby red with pink rim. Fresh redcurrant, sour cherry, raspberry, strawberry, animal sweat, farmyard, flowers and herbs. Medium-bodied, medium-high acidity, medium-high tannin, velvety texture and well balanced. Long finish.

The dry and musty cork which split in two during extraction had me fearing the worst, but I was pleasantly surprised at finding a seemingly sound wine.

Dark berries and a touch of barnyard with whisker of shoe polish on the nose lead leads to a slightly hard palate of bruised macerated cherries, beef roast drippings, and a touch of tree bark which lends some bitterness to the finish.

Perhaps this wine isn’t perfectly sound.

Edit: by the end of our evening, the bitterness faded and the wine became very pleasant.

Pink/purplish rim, ruby red center. Nose was farmyard with mix of violets and red berries. Palate was fresh redcurrant and animal sweat with a tinge of floral honey. Medium-high acidity, very good structure and long astringent finish.
