4/24/2015 - Burgundynick Likes this wine: 92 pointsWine tasting with 10 others. Opened, decanted back into the bottle left for 2 hours. It is very good. Nice and smooth and full of cigar box and blackcurrants. Very enjoyable and very nice and most people agreed. 92 Points 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

10/11/2013 - Zweder wrote: 90 pointsOccasional dinner group; Bordeaux 2003 plus some extras.: Day 1. Beautiful and smoky bouquet with cassis and some coffee as well. On the palate elegant with cassis, ok acidity and tannin which is still youthful, but also some green bell pepper. Day 2 the wine is still alive and kicking. Elegant and a pleasant bite and good juice, but overall lacking the concentration to be really great. Overall a classical Claret, early maturity now and around 2016/2018 probably at its peak. 6/25/2017 - Jeff Leve wrote: 92 pointsEarthy red fruits, and a hint of cocoa lead you to a wine with freshness and spicy red fruits with minerality. Medium/full bodied, with elegant tannins and freshness, give this a few years to come around, as it will gain in softness and nuances. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

3/19/2020 - Wine by Bok wrote: 95 pointsI have been drinking white burgundies for the past two years and hardly had a sip of any Bordeaux whites, as my biggest problem with Bordeaux whites is the lack of acidity and the lack of sophistication. However, I must confess this was an unfounded bias, definitely due to too much white burgundies influence and brainwash. Bouquet was definitive Bordeaux, with loads of butter (definitely due to oak influence) and a very faint floral note. As expected, there wasn’t much acidity in the body, in fact too low to even call a white. BUT, the extraordinary fruits more than made up the lack of acidity, extremely enjoyable fruits and pleasurable wine, made the white burgundy fruits paled right next to this gem! 9/13/2022 - englishman's claret wrote: 94 pointsTasted at the chateau, I’m amazed at how good a wine the 2010 Pavillon Rouge is. Fresh white flowers, cool but ripe blue, black, and red berries galore. Beautiful cool fruit in the mouth, sitting comfortably with the structure of the vintage but commensurate acid and body. Long finish. Very impressive. I am more bullish than others. 94-95 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

2/17/2014 - capacious Likes this wine: 94 pointsRound, immediately pleasing on PNP- elicited wows around the table and caused a pause. Surprised all and some who saw label from a distance said - what do we expect from a Chateau Margaux till they saw its the Pavillon and then the wows were wowed. This is what buying, being patient, and then being blown away is why wine is so fascinating. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

10/30/2018 - MaxSiegel Likes this wine: 92 pointsTakes at least an hour to open up. Good concentration of currant, plum, and raspberry fruit. Some cedar and eucalyptus. Occasionally a floral note. Luxurious, velvety Margaux texture. Still some tannin left to resolve. Acidity and alcohol are well balanced. Lacks the body and complexity of the grand vin but a very nice second wine. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

A bit more open than the 2010 we had side by side. light floral, spice, light oak, lots of ripe fruit and very youthful. Beautiful nose. On the palate it continues along the same path, rich and juicy, with lots of ripe fruit, opulent with good tannin. Approachable and delicious now in its youth and with lots of length. Very Very good wine 94 now and who knows how much higher this goes as it evolves. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

5/21/2018 - djarcara Likes this wine: 95 pointsDeep purple color with a bit of bricking. Very perfumed nose. Flavors of cassis, cedar, vanilla, licorice, and spice box. Great balance and elegance. Mid-level tannins with a mild acidity providing good structure. This is still on the young side. Has easily another 10 years left. Classic Margaux. Not much to criticize. Decant for sediment. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

8/19/2010 - Goldstone wrote: 91 pointsBriefly decanted. Low neck fill and good intact cork. Deep red only semi translucent colour but white meniscus. Nose is earth and minerals but with elegant light blackcurrant and redcurrant. Palate is light elegant freshly acidic but with great fruity ripeness and still some grip despite the tannins having fully resolved. Some length but lacking resonance. Very feminine and a welcome counterpoint to the brawny Australian wines it followed. |

12/25/2010 - Goldstone wrote: 92 pointsA really elegant light and feminine fully mature Margaux that went perfectly with home-cooked roast wild French turkey for Christmas lunch. Saturated and mould-covered but intact cork and a good fill just into the neck. Deep garnet red opaque colour, slightly dusty and a slight little bricking at the meniscus. Nose had a lot of initial corkiness and oloroso sherry suggestion near-oxidisation but this blew off after an hour and it blossomed into lovely dark cedar tree forests and damp undergrowth, graphite, pencil lead, all beautifully melded.... dusty attics and old leather sofas but also lively fruit of spiced plums and dark red cherries. Palate begins with a quite high acidic and slightly dilute frontal attack but melds into allspice, mahogany, dried thyme, dry and rounded tannins and a velvety but sharp high-toned finish. Still full of cherry and ripe raspberry fruit but needs time for it to emerge. This was still blossoming four hours after opening (not decanted). Not much length or resonance but no matter. The last and best of my three bottles. |

1/16/2015 - Goldstone Likes this wine: 91 pointsDeep opaque plum red colour. Just lightening at the edge. Nose is plummy and dusky but fresh. Palate is high toned acidity with lean but well defined blackberry fruit. Plum stones on the finish demonstrate that the tannin is still there albeit fully resolved. Light but very persistent length and resonance. Very elegant and feminine although firm enough to stand up to some strong masculine cheese at the end of the lunch (Perail De Brebis, Eposes and 48-month Comte). |
