2/14/2013 - creighc wrote: 89 pointsThis wine had a lot of good things going for it. It was a beautiful light Burgundian color, the nose was characteristic and the structure seemed solid. My disappointment was in the mid palate and finish. Though I enjoy the Oregon Pinots immensely, I just found this to be a little gutless right now. I have several more bottles and will keep my fingers crossed that they develop a bit more personality. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

7/30/2016 - creighc wrote: 96 pointsPlease, but enjoyed throughout a 3 hour evening. I opened in my cellar and barely had the cork out and the whole cellar filled with funk - which I love. It was almost like the glass had a built in blower. The wine evolved greatly ove the next three hours - becoming more velvety and lovely. Hints of blueberry and candied cherries with a 30 second finish. Possibly the most enjoyable and complex Syrah I have ever enjoyed. I have two more bottles so my friends better be very nice. |

9/11/2012 - creighc wrote: 89 pointsThis is a hard one to judge. At times the wine opened and showed lovely Burgunian traits and other times felt closed and tart. I did not decand and was unite encouraged when opening the bottle with a nice pungent Pinot aroma. Alas this wine is petulant - coming and going with the food, and each pour. It could very ell be in that " misbehaving" zone. Defiantly potential for beauty here - but lacking any consistency through the evening. For $60 I would like more focus! |

2/24/2011 - creighc wrote: 86 pointsI am surprised to see such high ratings. I thought the wine was young and tight. There did not seem like much fruit at the open, but after an hour at room temp, it did open up and was much more enjoyable. I get whiffs of coffee and green rasberry - tart, but still enjoyable. I'm going to lay the next two bottles down for a few years and see if it has the structure to last and improve. |

2/11/2012 - creighc wrote: 92 pointsVery enjoyable. Super dark. Decanted 3 hrs and still nice the next evening. Nicely balanced, very long finish. I bought this bottle at LaVinia in Madrid summer 2011. I was buying two cases to take home to US. I had room for 1 more bottle and the wine steward said that this would be a perfect choice. Glad he did! |

9/18/2012 - creighc wrote: 89 pointsVery light with pleasing Pinot character. A bit of valentine candy and well balanced, uniosi g fruit. I like this wine and have had at least 6-7 bottles. Some of the lower scores here are just a little suspicious. No, this is not a reserve, high end pinot. It is a very drinkable, enjoyable wine with character. Great priceline for a nice wine! I love the lighter color. I actually prefer this Pinot to any of the other Pinots from WVV. |

9/22/2011 - creighc wrote: 89 pointsExtracted, young, a really nice everyday wine from Toro. I first enjoyed this with the wine crew at the Quinta Quietud winery in Toro. This is meant to be an accesible less aged Toro wine. I absolutely love his other aged full Toro wines. This is a major winemaker that would be a cult hero if he was in the US. In Spain this wine was $7-8 Euros. I have been looking for it since my return and finally found it at Heights Chateau in NYC. I bought everything they had. |
