2/24/2021 - brigcampbell wrote: NRDecanted for 9 hours. Looks very dark and concentrated in the glass and there is a Chambord note. Also some spice aromas which I can't put my finger on. Very good fruit with a spicy clove and charred oak that last for a really long time, one of the longest finishes every for any wine. It just hangs on and on. There's a hint of salinity that might be olive at the end. The perception of acid very forward with a firm knitting of fine tannins. Excellent structure and will age a long time. I'd recommend holding this, heck it's a 2018, for at least another 3 years to give it time to integrate the oak. Side note: I left an ounce in the bottle and it sat on the counter for a week and was still drinking nicely. 5 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (11) |

12/15/2013 - brigcampbell wrote: 94 pointsCT Gang at Nick's (Laguna Beach, CA): This is more MSG versus GSM since it's 75% Mourvèdre and that's all goodness to me as I really like a good Mourvèdre and this is certainly an excellent wine. Dark fruit, sage, spice, cigar box, and lots of firm tannins. Medium plus finish. Excellent wine. 8 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (7) |

2/17/2013 - brigcampbell wrote: NRFalltacular 2013 (FMIII in the OC): I was standing against a wall tasting this wine and Eric walked by and began chatting. He didn't know what I was drinking so I innocently (or not so) said "what to you think of this wine's aromas?" and handed him my glass. He stuck his nose in there, thought for 10 seconds, and said "this is Abigail". Bingo! I told him I thought that was pretty impressive and said "no not really, I live with that wine everyday of its life". Good point, never really thought about that fact he's surrounded by his wines everyday. He's a very knowledgeable winemaker and interesting to converse with. 3 people found this helpful, do you? 8/29/2015 - brigcampbell wrote: NRBook Club (Patty's Place): Blind. Stumped losing interest this late. I wish Sean hadn't spent big coin on this wine. This will be an unpopular tasting note as this seems to be a favorite of many. Big, sweet, and one dimensional. There's a LOT of cherry here which is probably Grenache but I don't know the blend. Horrible QPR. You can get 2 or 3 great bottle of the price. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

6/16/2013 - brigcampbell wrote: NRExcellent wine as you'd expect. Dark crimson color and glass staining. Dark tart berry and chalky mid palate. Problem is I paired it with wild pig pork chops and homemade maple rum cayenne glaze. Palate was fried in regards to writing a detailed tasting note but the zin was perfect. Here is the culprit. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

9/7/2015 - brigcampbell wrote: NRInteresting maroon color, burnt edges. Dark plum, caramel, and cedar aromas. The nose is very alluring. I don't drink a lot Cabernet and certainly not much high end juice so I don't have a great reference but it's is very good. More cedar with cassis and plum flavors. Nice peppery note at the medium finish. This would be great with a fat steak. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (3) |
