Bottle was actually coravin end twice before (last August and November) while no signs of oxidation there was a sticky puncture and wine had no smell when the cork was pulled. After a few minutes there's a big wonderful expression of plum, spice, earth, minerals plate is quite dense in an elegant way, terrific persistence and depth of flavour with a really nice finish

Ikke dekantert. Primær, men pen. Ingen egentlig utvikling nedover i flasken. Holt seg på det primært pene. Syren kommer halvveis nede. Lite utvikling dag 2. Vent 1 år med neste.

Dinner with Victor and Gaby, a new tradition.... (Bistro Les Amis, NYC - Soho): This one contributed by Victor, decanted for about an hour prior to drinking. Drank next to 2000 Pavie Decesse.

Medium garnet/ruby color. Nose of dusted cherry, and cocoa. Smooth plate, rich plums, old cherry, coffee and some smoke notes. Slight medicinal notes through mid plate (in a good way). Tannins have softened, texture is consistent with nicely aged Pomerol...Medium weight and finish

In a good spot now, best guess is it will drink at this level for a while but I don't think it improves much from here. Would drink over the next 5 years

Still wonderful, but seems to be shutting down a bit relative to may last bottles in late 2015. To revisit in 3-5 years.

Wow, what a fantastic bottle of wine. Consensus WOTN, although for me took a slight back seat to the 1998 Janesse Vieilles Vignes (1998 Le Vieux Donjon and 2005 d'Armailhac were also in the running in this French themed evening). Nose on this wine was huge ... deep red fruit was unmistakable even before decanting, which we did 4 hours prior to consumption. Such a young wine, but tannins were soft and non-obtrusive. Long finish. Brooks from Corkscrews advised against opening this bottle so early, and I will wait at least 3-5 years before opening the next bottle, but this was the best young Bordeaux I've ever tasted.

If you're looking for truffle and cherry notes, you came to right place. Add in soft, silky textures, polished tannins and a blast of ripe, sweet cherries with licorice and lift in the finish and you get the picture. This is substantially better in bottle than from barrel.

This light Pomerol is dominated by bright red fruits, herbs and earth, finishing with a tart, earthy, spicy, red berry finish. This requires consumption as it's probably going to drop more fruit sooner than later. From such a good vintage, it was a disappointment.

This is another great 2009 wine from Pomerol.... The nose has fresh aromas of a fruit/vegetable stand next to a coffee house...Beautiful.... Though the tannin is fine and quite gripping at the moment (practically pulled the enamel from my teeth), it is so obvious what is underneath..... Enjoyable drinking now with decant, but it needs time to soften.

Another modern rendition of Pomerol...who are we kidding, its a 2018 and as far as I am concerned, the vintage really should be called "The Modern Vintage". Not necessarily bad and not intended as a negative comment, but the more I drink and sample through the vintage, the more I realize that this is an easy to understand vintage, anchored in richness and plushness of the fruit, while maintaining a foot in Bordeaux. The 2018 Certan de May is showing plush, deep as the night, creamy, and mouth coating. The cedar influence and acidity says Bordeaux. This one should be left alone for at least 5 years. HOLD_

I did not have high expectations and I was wrong ! A really complex nose: dried flowers, straw in the fields, English coffee candy, black fruits, leather... awesome complexity ! This opulent wine glides like liquid velvet, yet it has outstanding energy and freshness, with loads of integrated tannins. It is not short at all in the end - but the finish is somewhat moderate- if the finish was longer, it could truly rival any of its neighbors (Petrus, Lafleur, Vieux Chateau Certan). This is a beauty, complex, and generously giving. Its merlot are sited on clay, and the cab franc (30%) on gravel. That could explain the prefect balance between freshness and opulence. Loved it immediately. Outstanding value in this vintage !

After I wrote this note, I went to read all the notes written by the other folks. And the conclusion is, Bordeaux at 20++ years of age are in another league.

Refined and classic and revealing the elegance of its age, this wine is still strutting its medium body and beauty as a monument wine, a quarter of a century wine that provides pleasure. The blackberry, plum and cassis still linger with a hint of expresso, a scent of cedar and event less of tobacco. Chocolate and hazelnuts are scant, but still linger. This wine's primary characteristic now is balance. The tannins are soft and supple, the oak is a memory. Drink now, do not decant, and delight in the ease of this surprising wine.

My first of 6 bottles. Completely lived up to my expectations. Deep/dark with all kinds of dark fruit notes....almost chewy. Decanted 30-45 minutes. Not sure it needed more than that, as it did not improve after 45 minutes as dinner progressed. Could it get better over time? Yes, but no reason not to enjoy some now.

First thing first, this is in my opinion not everyone cup of tea! Dark ruby in color with a touch of very thin brown rim, almost not detectable. Straight from the bottle and drink it over the course of the next three hours! At the very beginning (first twenty minutes), nose of raw meat, imagine a bird which is hung for few days, then nose of dry cured meat, then the old leather came, mouthful of salt, fleur de sel of course! Then for about an hour, it evolves to the nose of caramel, that is very interesting, and the palate showing a bit more berry fruits and around one and a half hours from the start, we see some real fruits came in, very pure red candy fruits, almost taste like candies! The nose is marvelous at this point, regal should I say! Then in the final thirty to forty five minutes, nose of autumn leaves, mushroom showing here! Very earthy! The wine itself did show a great complexity but once again, not everyone cup of tea! My bottle told me it can be held for five to eight years! May be ten! But it is singing right now!

Herbal and energetic, with good acidity, but somewhat thin in texture, hard to see this needing to be held until 2025 as per the CT drinking window.

Decanted for 3 hours. Medium to full bodied. The wine has good fruit and pretty soft tannins, but I found it a bit aggressive at the moment. The relatively high amount of Cabernet Franc in the blend comes through and gives the wine some herby notes. I will wait another 3-5 years to let the wine calm down a bit.

Fantastic pom. More tannic and edgier than older Certans like the 86’s were 10 yrs ago. Still, has that typical ripe summer stone fruit taste of a well made pomerol. Mix of plum, pluot, and cherry but higher on acidity than usual. Good stuff. Drink now or hold for 5-10 more years.
