Bright nose of mineral, peaches, pears, with a hint citrus and something very distinctive that I can't quite put into words that is almost a defining feature of the wine. Taste of honey, lemon, and tea. My third bottle. A fascinating alternative to Chardonnay.

Briary Zinfandel fruit that reminds me more of Mendocino than Anderson valley / Geyserville area. Significant structure from the Petite Sirah. Beautiful field blend example. Plums, prunes & currants on the nose. Smooth well integrated tannins. Lingering licorice finish. Pallate has a distinct earthiness with dark fruit, mushrooms & hints of cloves. Took a while to open up but really drinking beautifully.

Bright, candied cherries & rhubarb nose with a hint of violets. Taste of ripe cherries with a nice finish of licorice & that lingering hint of something floral. At 14.7% alcohol it isn't over the top. Drinking very well now & still has lots of forward fruit.

Nose of blackberry, currants, chalky mineral, hint of menthol. Taste of cherries & blackberries, cedar. Long finish of earthy leather & tobacco. At the moment, not as opened & developed as the 08 but with more depth. One more year & this should be perfect.

Bright cherry fruit, candied as mentioned by the last post is a great description. Undercurrent of earth, a touch of spice, a bit of herb. Layers of flavor evolved as the wine opened. Light style, but still complex.

Opened as part of a Buchignani vertical tasting. Much brighter acidity than the Zin from the same vineyard. Bright spiced raspberry pie fruit, a bit of baking spice on the nose, hints of herbal tea, & violets. Flavors of baked bread, herbs & tea. One of my favorite Ridge Carignan bottlings to date.

Light cherries, damp leather, woody, cinnamon and cloves on the nose. On the palate one gets pepper and earth with light tannins. Refreshing restrained at 13.1% alcohol. Like the Le Posseur 2009 Syrah reviewed in parallel, this wine is beautifully food friendly.

Bright. Beautifully integrated and restrained with evolving layers of subtle flavors in a nuanced old world style. Nose: Forward bright fruit, violets, chocolate, toast, pepper, and leather. Hint of orange zest. Palate: bright cherries, leather and toast. Finishes with a bit of cassis or cardamon. Still young so takes a while to open up. Showing beautifully now but also has some aging potential. Nice acidity, should should certainly go at least 10 yrs and develop some beautiful secondary characteristics in the next few. Looking forward to watching this wine (and this new winery) grow and evolve.
