Tuscan Wine Night (Caro Mio): This has a heavy dose of alcohol - brandy insfused(?). A bit too much for me, but I can see how this can be appealing with its complexity and unusual profile.

Wow. Very enjoyable with notes of apricot, orange, honey, and hazelnut. You can tell that this wine is fortified with brandy (18% alcohol) but it is very nicely integrated and does not show the alcohol.

34th Street Extravaganza (34th Street Cafe, Austin, TX): A good wine from Merryvale. What's up with that? I really liked this. Nice poached pear, peach, butter, and caramel. This definitely got the job done with the truffles and cheeses for dessert.

Lovely aromas of roasted nuts and burnt caramel.
Palate is clean and finishes nicely. Not a bad value at all especially for the low buck.

Awful unbalanced desert wine that has more in common with grand marnier. 18% alcohol feels like 30% and just completely ovewhelmes and ruins the experience. I'd cook with it but not drink it

Beautiful golden-brown hue. Brandy nose and taste. Good acid, but the brandy is too strong. Complex pear finish. Porty.

Had this bottle in my cellar for 6 or 7 years, open late on a cold snowy Sunday night, it was quite good. One of the many reason I drink wine is because I am not fond of the taste of alcohol, though noticiable amouts were detectable in the nose, no heat was on the palate, in fact very good balance of burnt caramel, creme burlee, orange and just a slight amout of residual surgar, making this wine a delight to drink.

The alcohol was a bit more apparent than I recall noting when I last tried this several years ago, but I still love that "different" caramel/butter/peach Yum In A Glass effect!

40% of this is old BV muscats. Apperently this is true. Blended with a second set of barrels started in 1992 and finished in 2000. Orange peel and wonderful. Jesus that is great. 92-97 is blended into the old BV stuff. The new stuff has been stopped with immature brandy.

Showy but tightly packaged, this offered a bevy of anise, roasted nut, citrus and caramel flavors with lively acidity and a good bit of heat.

Heady orange, toffee grapiness on nose. Acid balances the richness and alcohol. Tastes of orange flowers dipped in caramel & nuts - really delicious all on it's own - no dessert required!

Very sherry like nose. Cream. Spices, and alcohol on the palate. Rich, bot as sweet as I thought it would be. Fun, and tasty. 90-91

Gibby's monthly tasting (Gibby's Wine Den, Geneva, IL): Pale golden color. Notes of orange peel, clove and honey. The palate follows the nose, with an added nutty quality. Finishes with nice fruit and length. 86-88 pts.

Lots of orange, nuts, spice. This drinks a bit hot and with the oak treatment comes off almost as a spirit more than a dessert wine. Nonetheless, it's very enjoyable both with and without a sweet dessert.
