Minerality, some grippy tannins, "natural taste", taste of the grapes, juicy. I usually wait longer for cab franc from Chinon, but this is an Anjou, and it would be a mistake to want longer and miss that lovely fruit IMHO.

Another ancient bottle. On PnP, the nose showed a heavily oxidized wine, with celery and herb notes plus citrus. However, the next day, the sherry-like notes are much less. Still this probably should have been drunk years ago. Aromas of cider, deck stain, earth, sherry, chlorine pool, oregano, lemon, celery. (yeah, really) Lemon, underripe stone fruit, earth, hay, light sherry notes on the palate. Actually a pretty nice wine, though you have to have a tolerance for oxidized wine.

Lots more experience with Chenin now, compared to my previous note almost 3 years ago. This bottle was definitely showing some oxidized notes, but still tasting quite nicely. Not sure how long it will hold up though.

FYI - On pop and pour this wine had an overwhelming paint thinner like aroma and taste. I put it back in the fridge and on night 2 and 3 it was fine. Reduction or VA maybe?

Otherwise some interesting and quircky flavors (licorice?) with good balance and acidity.

No notes taken, interesting partially oxidized style gives it grip on top of a minerally core that also offers up floral notes and even stone fruit.

Wool, hay, honey, nice smell. Sea shell, wild honey, quite simple and straightforward palate. Good one.

Crushed seashells and citrus on the nose, with hints of pineapple, and some floral notes. Lots of minerals and citrus on the palate, with tropical fruit on the mid-palate, and a good floral finish.

I am enjoying this -- none of the oxidative notes other have mentioned. Instead, clear goldenrod color (as another reviewer mentioned), perfumed nose, and tones of pear, melon, and florals. Good acidity and length. Either I got a good one (2 more left) or these organic/non interventionist whites take longer to settle in after shipment. I think in another year will be a marvelous chenin blanc.

Definite sherry-like oxidized tones on the nose. On the palate it came across surprisingly delicate when first opened and not at all like I would expect for a Chenin Blanc. It did start to open up after it had a chance to breathe, but I never quite figured out what to make of it, though I enjoyed it more the more I sipped it. There was only one person at my tasting who really loved it. I'm curious to see how my second bottle comes across under different circumstances.

Somewhat oxidized, but still drinkable, a lot like a Jura wine. Not as oxidized as a sherry. Rather rich.

Excessively oxidized. A certain amount of bottle variation in natural wine is understandable (eg http://mcduffwine.blogspot.com/2009/05/malo-in-bottle.html ), this was like drinking sherry, and not in a good way.

We have very little previous experience with Chenin Blanc but found this bottle quite delightful. Goldenrod color in the glass, with a nose of sweat socks. The taste was totally unexpected from the smell however... while I didn't have a reference for it the typical 'greengage' description is right on target. Pretty dry and a nice mineral character. Very much enjoyed this bottle... a great introduction to this varietal. I look forward to drinking this one again.

Cherry and barnyard on the nose, along with floral notes and game in the middle, and woody herbs at the end. Great acidity on the palate, with sour cherry and barnyard, some game and herbs on the mid-palate, and a nice floral finish.

Extremely dark in the glass for Gamay, and though it is a 2009, it is still very purple at the rim. The nose is a weird but interesting combination of candied raspberries and pure dirt. Not cement or dust or other clever, elegant things: This is a handful of the backyard stuffed in your face. On the palate, there isn't a trace of either the candy or the dirt. Instead, there is more of a completely dry black fruit aspect, with rustic and quite drying tannins. The finish is not particularly long, but surprisingly well-balanced. I'm not usually a Gamay kinda guy, but I enjoyed this one. It's an Old World, AFWE type of wine, and works best with food. My expectations were low, but this was good. It does tend to break down after time open, so enjoy it relatively quickly and with no advance aeration.

Another head scratcher of a wine in that it sat buried in the cellar for years after it probably should have been consumed. On the decline, but nothing notably off, so a pleasant surprise. Lots of depth here with some barnyard funk.
