Just bottled about a month ago. Young vineyards outside of the Morgon appellation. Mostly on fruit notes, digest. Summer terrasse wine!

Very disjointed, embryonic. Plums, med acid, not showing much. Hope this just needs some more time in bottle

Declassified Morgon is the idea. Peppery and a little bit green. Watercress, vegetal peppery. Bright and fresh and a touch of tomato to it. Kinda short on the palate and vegetable bitterness. Hmm... not the most exciting offering from this estate.

dense translucent ruby appearance. nose shows sweet raspberry, cherry, and a bit of a vegetal note, maybe dill? some mushroom, butter, and crushed stone as well. medium bodied with plus acidity. fresh, smooth, and easy. tart raspberry and cranberry fruit with some green chive notes and more stony mineral on the back. medium length finish and fine ground tannin. much better than a bottle 2 months ago, fruit has emerged and tannins have integrated.

Bu en succ.
Beau petit bojo d'un producteur phare!
Super digeste, frais et bien glou-glou.
Des cerises, de la canneberge et un peu
de poivre. La finale et de belle longueur
et nous laisse sur un impression salin.
Excellent.

nose is all violets, maybe a little smoke. Bright Med+ acid up front, more violet cherry raspberry, some more of that graphite smoky thing towards the finish. Little bit of VA but it’s just a bit. Easy breezy, but definitely feels like a “we want to charge more for Raisins Gaulons but people would balk at a price hike so let’s just make a new cuvée” situation

Clear, dark with bright notes
Fresh strawberry nose.
Medium bodied, fresh strawberry, very fresh and still young.
So close in price to the Morgon, but not nearly as deep or complex.
I don’t think it is worth it.

I didn’t like this.

Tart on the nose - fruit pastels, floral and mushroom-y. Compost and fungus? There is just something not nice about this. There is a specific smell I can’t place. Doesn’t smell like it should be drank. Not sure if a touch of TCA…

On the palate, like eating a pot of acidic gammy flowers. Very distinctive and unpleasant. Light bodied.

Funky, earthy, stinky, definitely a strong whiff of dog crap on the nose, but with 3+ hours of air (in bottle) this developed fresh strawberry, tart huckleberry, and sour cherry/rhubarb notes that fades into bitters, cloves, and wood smoke on the finish. Linear and one dimensional, this is well-made but on the natural/rustic side of things, so understandably polarizing. For us, we love it. Drink 2023 -2028. Technical score: 90. Enjoyment score: 92.

Brilliant ruby fading to pink with a thin watery rim. Fresh strawberry on the nose with mushroom, and forest floor. On the palate is medium tannins, ripping acidity, and flavors of raspberry, mineral, and barnyard. Long finish. Recommended. Drink now through 2027.

I was really enthused by the idea of tasting one of Marcel Lapierre's wines in the Devon sun. The wine was nice medium bodied, a certain elegance, subtle crunchy fruit , good length and nice freshness. What stood out was the lovely minerality in the blue and red fruit aromas.

I had to check one of these out right off the bat, and damn are they singing already. Warm florals and bright gamay fruit on the nose, signature crunchy red fruit on the palate but with enough dusty minerality to keep it from being nothing more than a simple summer sipper. Interested to see how the difference in soil translates over the next 10+ years in the bottle.

Lapierre's first ever Julienas due to hail, which severely - though not entirely - reduced their Morgon production in 2016. Really fun to try.

Nice clear red color. Nose is full of white flowers, that facial powder smell (broadly defined), strawberry, red raspberry, and some brown sugar complexity. Palate of white flowers, mineral-ity, perfumed facial powder, lots of strawberry and red raspberry + associated raspberry acidity. Although a lighter styled wine, it does possess a fair amount well balanced richness and even a bit of meatiness. Maybe Lapierre should produce Julienas every vintage? Really lovely.

No idea how long this wine will last. It's freshness (and comments) seem to imply early consumption, but Lapierre is different. Drink now and for the next four or five years. Keep one bottle back for seven years out - for intellectual curiosity.

dark rose color. nose dense, almost creamy, with cherry, rose, peach, and vanilla apparent. lighter body than the nose would suggest. little acid. palate is a ringer for my favorite cranberry sauce- sweet cranberry, vanilla, cinnamon, orange zest, dijon, and cracked black pepper. some ripe peach there too. no real tannin to speak of. i would think this is better alone (as i had it) than with food. fun.

This was my first time trying a Gamay. I’m not sure if it was the varietal or this specific wine that I did not enjoy. More research needed to solve this question. It had a strong herb flavor that did not agree with my palate.

Young Beaujolais Flight (SF Wine Trading Company): Light red. Beautiful floral fragrance. Light, supple blend of soil, herbs, and tart cherry arriving toward the end. Elegant, delicate, and delicious. Very much in the Lapierre style. First vintage for this cru at this address, and seems very successful to me. Can attack this early.

Fresh, lush and lip smacking good but with very good balance and structure. Not as defined/crunchy red fruit as the Morgon but just delicious. Love this!
