11/26/2021 - The Drunken Cyclist Likes this wine: 89 pointsThe Fourth Annual World’s Largest Blind Tasting of American Pinot Noir: Retail $15. Under screw cap. Medium dark color, muted nose with some dark cherry and earth. The palate is also quite shy but some fruit and tartness comes through eventually. Might need some time to open up. |

4/21/2020 - daver852 Likes this wine: 89 pointsWhether you like a Chardonnay or not depends largely on what style you prefer. This stuff is right down my alley. A very pronounced nose dominated by apple and oak. On the palate there is tremendous depth of apple flavors, supported by moderate tannins and a fair amount of oak. Very smooth finish. At $10 a bottle, I could drink this all day. Just outstanding value. |

7/14/2020 - Achromat Likes this wine: 87 pointsThis Central Coast and Sonoma blend is atypical for a chardonnay. It is not a big buttery style. It is medium bodied and dominated by apple but has some citrus as well. Good acid balance, fruit forward style. Good value. 87-88. |

Definintly some good fruit flavors coming through. Color looks good. Might put one of these in my collection (when i start one). |

Dulcie proclaims this to be better than Cupcake, which is apparently her yardstick for cheap chardonnay. I admit this wine appears a lot less industrial and synthetic, and the slightly oaky aroma seems authentic. It's not bad at the price. |

A bit tannic which is leaving a beautiful chalky coating on the finish. I’m completely in the mood for this type of wine tonight, so it’s not turning me off at all. Bottle is still a baby and needs a good 5 years to mellow out. |

11/16/2022 - InfernoBoss Likes this wine: 89 pointsOutstanding QPR on a bottle that regularly sells for sub $10. Full mouth feel with notes of lemon and apple, some oak, pineapple on the finish. Outperforms many $30 offerings. |

2/4/2022 - Achromat Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis wine is in keeping with their older vintages, with a rich nose of oak, Meyer lemon and spice. Nice body and fruit richness as well. One of the best values in Chardonnay, at $7.50. Upgrading to 90 points after a recent tasting. A rich and powerful wine. |

7/28/2021 - ElJefeTX Likes this wine: 87 pointsPale yellow hue with aromas of yellow apple, peach, lemon peel and a touch of butterscotch. Firmly acidic and medium bodied, the palate a slight creaminess with notes of lemon, pineapple, key lime, spice and pie crust. Nothing memorable but certainly above average for an affordable Chardonnay. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

7/15/2021 - The Drunken Cyclist Likes this wine: 90 pointsRetail $17. Under screw cap. While this is listed at $17, it sells for a shade over $10 at retail. At that price? This is a steal. I have been telling the fine people at Rodney Strong that their wines are too inexpensive--few wine writers take a ten buck Chard all that seriously (particularly with a generic "California" appellation). But Justin Seidenfeld has once again proved his worth to the brand with a wine that really over-delivers. A bit of golden hue to the pale straw with aromas of lemon curd and oak (albeit subtle). The palate really is surprising, shocking, even. This really shows as a wine 3-4 times its price with rich citrus, an integrated degree of "butter" and a measured hand with the oak. Sure, it is closer to a "traditional" Cali Chard than the popular "unoaked" style, but this really is delicious. |

3/14/2021 - Glenn Gilbert Likes this wine: 87 points13.5% alcohol; screw top; medium to long legs, lemon yellow; the wine was opened at approximately 18 degrees C; even the metal bottle cap has a faint whiff of fruit, the wine itself much more so; besides generic fruit and alcohol, there are notes of citrus and peaches; this Chardonnay was tasted within 5 minutes of opening; tannins are subdued on the surface but operate powerfully in the background with sourness and minerality crowding out sweetness and bitterness; little to no evidence of malolactic secondary fermentation (buttery taste); the medium to long finish continues the same balance of components; pair with hors-d'oeuvres cheeses or salted nuts, or with dessert cheeses |

2/26/2023 - StaceyK Likes this wine: 90 pointsI like to buy also inexpensive wines to keep in my cellar and I heard this name before and figured for $11 I would try. I ended up bringing this wine to a friends house cause I didnt want to go empty handed and I liked the fact that is was a screw top. We all loved the wine. This was a wine that makes you think, why am I buying $100 bottle of wine when this was delicious. I was at a restaurant last night and the wine list was small but this wine was on the list so I ordered it and it was also so good that I felt I needed to write a tasting Note. It was def buttery, smooth, no funky taste, fruity. I have to buy more for sure. |

2/12/2021 - The Drunken Cyclist Likes this wine: 89 pointsRetail $15. Under screw cap. Big Ass Heavy Bottle. 47% Merlot, 38% Malbec, 8% Zinfandel, 6% Petit Verdot, 1% Syrah. This is the third of the four new Knotty Vines from Rodney Strong, and it might be the best of the lot (I still need to try the Cab). Medium garnet color, laden with fruit in the glass (blackberry, plum, black cherry), along with some mocha and baking spice. The palate is fairly rich and balanced between fruit, tartness/acidity, and some soft tannins on the finish. This will probably sell in the $10-12 range on the supermarket shelf and that might be a steal. |
