2010 Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz-MourvèdreSouth Eastern Shiraz Blend, Syrah more |
5/14/2012 - kwn70 wrote: 84 pointsDeep purple color. Reminded me of Welch's. This came across as a little young still, but delivered some nice deep red fruit on the palate. I got quite a bit of alcohol on the nose as well. Even as a 2010, it's a good buy and daily drinker though. |

1/12/2013 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 93 pointsNo formal notes taken. I remember liking this pretty well when tasting it at an event... The wine is really drinking nicely now! Nice minerality. Just the right amount of fruit with no rough edges. Smooth. |

6/3/2012 - kwn70 wrote: 90 pointsTranslucent garnet color. Hints of spice and tobacco accompanied by black olive and piquillo pepper notes on the nose. Upon opening, the acidity was immediately apparent on the palate, but was not overwhelming. After several hours of decanting, this smoothed out nicely. Nice, light, bright strawberry and cherry flavors transitioned to black olive on the finish. Good QPR! Will buy again! |

2014 Alban Vineyards Syrah Patrina Alban Estate VineyardEdna Valley more |
2/9/2019 - kwn70 wrote: 89 pointsStill a bit harsh and in your face, which I found strange since this is supposed to be the Alban that’s more approachable in its youth. Inky with a bit of alcohol out of the gates. This smoothed out with some air, but still not super impressive or unique. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

11/18/2016 - kwn70 Likes this wine: NRMy first Alban. Really tasty wine. Liked this out of the gates and it only got better over the few hours it was consumed. Super dark and rich with a long finish and ripe tannin structure. My kind of syrah! |

11/10/2018 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 92 pointsI didn't enjoy this as much as the 2010 vintage I had in July of 2017, but it's still enjoyable. I agree with previous comments that there is still some heat on the finish and needs some time to fully integrate. Needs another couple years. |

7/9/2017 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 95 pointsConsistent experience with my last from 8/2014. However, I think this has improved and was the wine of the night among other really tasty wines from around the world. I knew this was going to deliver, as Maggie's wines always do, but this was extra special. 4 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

2015 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valleymore |
12/24/2017 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 94 pointsMy first Myriad and it delivered as expected. Out of the bottle it was approachable and would have done just fine as a PNP. Decanted for three hours and it was singing nicely when dinner was plated. The purity of red and blue fruits was great and the rich texture was fantastic. Having a wine like this available at the current price point makes me really happy. |

3/2/2013 - kwn70 Likes this wine: 93 pointsPretty much pop and poured. Had a little air time, but would have likely benefited from several hours decanted. Very intriguing nose. Aside from the rich cherry undertones and port-like qualities, I was never able to put my finger on the third, intriguing quality. It made me keep coming back for more nose-time though. On the palate, this was a very rich and elegant merlot. Fruit forward and able to stand on its own as a wine to simply sit back and enjoy with friends. |
