2/12/2010 - ckeilah wrote: 86 pointsPopped and poured, nose a little tight but surprised me by not tasting quite so. Quickly settled down, but a pass through the vinturi really helped out! Suddenly the oak shone through and, what's that? A hint of firecrackers? or is that the pencil lead I'm always hearing about? There's some really interesting, odd, vaguely familiar aroma coming through after about an hour. What IS that??? It's mildly vegetal and chemical, not really like, but reminds me of turpentine and oil paints when I was learning to paint as a kid. I want to say Toluene, but just can't nail it. Maybe just a very very muted oil refinery... Oh well, it's gone now. Really settled down to Irish grazing pasture. I need to stop smelling this and DRINK it! ;-) ... and I need to learn how to describe tastes better. It's nice though. Very nice for the UNDER $10 this sold for at CostCo! |
