7/27/2007 - Hammer wrote: 97 pointsWow, what a beautiful wine! This wine surprised me with freshness and enough acidity to counter-balance the big fruit. On the nose, it's white pepper city, with cinnamon, anise & spices, giving way to black fruits and hint of cherry. In the mouth, it has silky tannins that envelope your mouth and finish that lasts for over 30 seconds. It's drinking beautifully now but i can't wait to see how it will drink in about 10 years. |

Has an extremely expressive nose dominated by kirsch and framboise. Huge. Started out one dimensional but mineral and floral aromas eventually broke through. The fruit is concentrated and mouth coating. The finish is extremely long. Needs time but should be awesome stuff when mature. |

8/17/2007 - danibus wrote: 95 pointsBeautiful, promising nose that did not disappoint. Began primary and tannic, even with a six hour decant, but opened well by the end of the first glass. Mouthcoating, with a nice balance of dark fruit, ripe cherries, kirsch, pepper, and minerals. Quite dense and concentrated, yet elegant, with sultry tannins. Impressively long, with an earthy dryness that lingers on the roof of your mouth. Has the structure to age too. |

Consensus WOTN. |

Great structure promises a long life. Defininite long decant for my bottles. There were a tonne of other great wines this evening, but this stood out as the most memorable. |

The red and dark fruits are abundant here, and they are harmoniously combined with oak, mineral, spice, and earth. The complexity of this wine is amazing with multiple layers to enjoy, surrounded by silky smooth tannins. The finish just goes on and on. I had let this age for 4+ years and it was well worth the wait. It can last another decade...or more. If you can find it, grab it. |

11/2/2008 - amred wrote: 94 pointsA terrific wine. We decanted for ~ two hours. Was a Rhone in the nose, but not at all too "barnyard" in nature. Rather, some sweetness, yet with that garrigue earthy nose characteristic of Rhones. In the mouth, we first of all felt it was as described in terms of the 2003s--very rich and more fruit forward than these wines traditionally are, at least to us. But, it had plenty of tannin, minerality, rich fruit and great balance. We enjoyed it immensely. I think the others will keep, but not necessarily as long as is traditionally the case for the northern Rhones. |

10/24/2010 - amred wrote: 94 pointsAbsolutely splendid bottle of wine. This was in a blind tasting with other Rhones, and French varietals. A bit of sweetness and intense fruit on the nose (as others have noted), but in the mouth we found it not over-extracted. Rather, had the traditional herbal/garrigue and minerality of northern Rhone syrahs. It was more "new world" in style, but was rated highly among good French varietals. Wish we had more-only two left. |

Lighter than expected on the palate, having few of the characteristics I expected form a Hermitage. A bit of earthy minerality on the finish despite the somewhat ripe, New World profile. All in all, a wonderful wine: weird and wonderful. |

4/21/2014 - Scottlmatthews Likes this wine: 93 pointsThe wine looks brick colored. The legs are medium with heavy sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, black pepper, black olive, green beans, game and burnt match-which blew off with an hour decant. It tastes like blackberry, red currant, black pepper fig, black olive, tea, bell pepper and mushroom with a roasted brussel sprouts nuance-wierd but lovely.. The body is medium/full. The wine has leathery texture with a long finishes. |

7/14/2018 - mhudes Likes this wine: 93 pointsWith family at Juanita & Maude in Albany. PnP. Reddish purple in color. Nice fragrant nose. Dark fruit flavors in the mouth, particularly plums and black currants. Some black licorice along with some meatiness. Pepper, of course, but there also seems to me nuances of Chinese 5 spice powder. Some tannin and acidity, but the wine really is nicely balanced. |
