11/27/2014 - jackaroo Likes this wine: 96 pointsWorld class. Can't imagine a better Thanksgiving wine. One of the best wines I've ever had and I started my cellar in 1970. Australian wines are under-appreciated and hence under-valued, at least in the eyes of most wine consumers. I'm one of those consumers who will continue to take advantage of this anomaly. Cheers! |

10/27/2015 - jackaroo Likes this wine: 96 pointsTruly a great wine. Would stack up against the best, no matter if it came from France, Spain, Italy, Portugal or any other world class wine destination. Cork was saturated perhaps an eight of an inch and sediment was minimal. QPR hit it out of the park. Still has a long drinking window. One of the finest wines in my forty-five year drinking experience. 96++ |

Tasted with some Mollydooker wines, and this one held it's own right next to those monsters. Made us get really interested in McLaren Vale Shirazs with high alcohol content - especially in the $20-$30 range. |

1/22/2007 - Medo wrote: 94 pointsDecanted for 3 hours: BIG! Great concentration and extremly full bodied. Bursts of blackberry, vanilla, plum, licorice, some raspberry and earthy notes. A typical "in your face" Oz , inky, but a bit one-dimensional. I like this style quite much and the rest of the table with impressed as well how much fruit can rave in their mouth. |

11/2/2012 - Giggs wrote: 94 pointsBreeders' Cup XXIX; 11/2/2012-11/3/2012: Decanted 3 hours. Very nice, expressive nose of sweet candy red fruit (like a red candy apple), raspberry and blackberry reduction, and brambly, floral elements of Grenache which make the nose interesting. Extremely concentrated, ripe palate giving intermixed spicy dark red, purple, and black fruits, approaching confectionery in their sweetness. Very powerful up front, but loses intensity from midpalate onward. Well made and probably still has a few years of improvement in it. |

3/11/2013 - George Lopez Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis is a very full-bodied wine that took an hour plus to open up. It's jammy, with strawberry and raspberry notes that reminded me of sticking my nose in a jar of Smuckers preserves. The finish was long, however it consistently had a hint of a slightly metallic flavor that we couldn't define. Nevertheless, it was a very interesting bottle that we savored over an entire evening. |

1/2/2009 - Mattshank wrote: 92 pointsNose: Sweet raspberries and kirsch, spice, and some mineral/wet stone and floral hints. Palate: Rich viscosity with raspberry, candied cherries, and ample acid to keep it from being cloying. How the winemaker hides the 16.3% alcohol content is amazing and one of the reasons DeLisio is making some of the more compelling wines from Australia. While the previously drunk bottles were more multi-dimensional this is drinking well. Given the high alcohol levels I would say "drink up" while the fruit is still strong. |

11/7/2009 - Vinacull wrote: 92 pointsDecant and pour. Color very dark red verging on black, opaque, full+ body. Effusive nose of kirsch, marionberry preserves, and underneath some flowers, meat juice, pencil shavings, and crushed rock --- all nuances that were not there when we last tried this a couple years ago. Smooth, very big and richly fruity on the palate, with sweet dark cherries, ripe blackberries, chocolate, baking spices, licorice and earth. I agree with other reviewers that the acidity reigns this in from being a sweet fruit bomb. Medium level of soft chewy tannins, and a long 45s finish. On the delicious scale this is outstanding, and well suited as an after dinner aperitif. Several times the alcohol was stinging the nose hairs and poked through on the finish, but largely in check considering the 16.3 ETOH or higher. This could be at its peak now, because it is showing more complexity than it was, and the highly delicious fruit is still playing full force. I still don't quite see the stratosphere score of 96 from JM, but an excellent value nonetheless at 32. |

10/6/2009 - AdamWallstein wrote: 91 pointsVery tasty and full of sweet, rich fruit which is balanced to some degree by puckering acidity. Some complexity too with it's woody pencil shavings. For such a massive bruiser (16.3%), the alcohol was very much under control. Drink now-2012. |
