1986 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet

Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay more

Beautifully well evolved. Initially hints of apricots and lemon. some hazelnuts. with time, acidity was even better and classical Chevalier tension and precision showed. Very long. Good wine. Very graceful oxidation only so all in balance. From the Leflaive recorked batch.

And a last glass 5 hours later. The wine more focused and feeling younger. Acidity more dominant in a good way.

12/30/2021 6:58:00 AM - Hi - had a few of the recorked ones. The GCs have all been excellent, but were always in need of a few hours air to show their best. I would in fact buy more if I could find at decent pricing.

Immediately ready and impressive. Would say mid palatte is the strong point in this wine at this stage - vibrant, energetic, structured. Spice, tea leaves, a bit of anis.

In a beautiful phase. Intense and a little wild, herbes de Provence.

I love the ripeness and almost decadent feel of this wine. Currently very open - no need for decanting

this didn't show as well as others felt. I thought a little herbaceous and lacking warmth. It may be an early phase in its development.
