I have had at least 50 Chevillon Burgs over past 20 years and i'm yet to find a bad one. Often in weaker vintages he is still making great wines. And in particular i have been impressed time and again with his 2005 Nuits Premier Cru's. First time for "Chaignots" from this vintage for me and in my opinion the best of them all. This was brooding and too young but coming into the first drinking window of what will be 30+ years drinking pleasure. Rich, verging on full bodied ( completely the opposite of the Maniere Suchots next to it) , fat and laden with a small dark berry and sous bois , charry nose. Palate same with raspberry, complex savoury but sweet spices. balanced and long, acid and tannins settled down nicely. it continued to evolve and flower over 2 hours. just absolutely yummy stuff. the pick of the 3 pinots for me. And a relative bargain at auction if you can find it. From Timmy Bird's cellar.

Tremendous bottle. I think this was better than the previous one I opened maybe 2-3 years ago. I agree with others that this wine is at a lovely peak, but I do think it could age further.

It opened very reserved, really offering only good fruit flavor and assurance that it was not over the hill. However, it had shortness that was a little disappointing. With time, the flavors lengthened and lengthened. About 2.5 hours in, it had really opened into kind of a beast. The reticence was gone. It then started to settle down into something really superb in terms of balance and sheer deliciousness. Really a great Burgundy.

This was a total headturner and my WOTN amongst some big hitters like a '95 Haut Brion. This one btl is the poster btl for great Burgundy with significant blt age. It also continues to confirm why Robert Chevillon is one of my top 5 producer in all of Burgundy. This had amazing depth on a lovely evolved silky but fresh frame.

My WOTN but only by a hair over its flight mate, a 91 Georges Vosne Romanee Noellat Les Petite Monts. Medium light crimson color with some bricking on the edges. Perfectly resolved and yet so vibrant and fresh. There was an incredible little burst of sexy pomegranate and strawberries that really sets this wine apart. Everything about this wine blew me away. Left me thinking once again how Chevillon deserves a spot at the same table with DRC, Rousseau, Roumier and Mugnier. Delineated, intellectual, silky and yet unmistakably Nuit St George stature.

Bevuto in ristorante a Nuits-St. Georges. WOW!!!!

PnP - This was killer and only slightly overshadowed by a near perfectly aged '90 Beaucastel tonight. And only, because this is just a smidge more primary then the '90 Beaucastel. That said, this was a dream Burg with great finesse, lovely fruit and depth. The texture was sublime. The nose was so vibrant and so fresh. Only missing component is some forest floor on the nose which should emerge with time. This was drinking very very well! Drink or hold.

Red burgundy doesn't get much better than this....for me anyhow. Consider yourself blessed if you own this wine and feel free to drink one anytime. In great shape but drinking superbly right now. Popped and poured. If you've ever wondered what a $300 plus Burg taste like but don't have the budget to drink one, snap up a btl of this wine immediately if, you can find it. For those in the know, Chevillon's greatness is no secret. Grab them before they become out of reach for most of us like Mugnier, Rousseau, DRC and Dujac have. Not a huge wine but rather has the unique depth and intellectual experience only great Burgundy can deliver. 02 seems like a great vintage for Chevillon. Why didn't I snap these up at the outrageous $60 release price???

Many people may give it only 89-91 pts but for me I'd like to give it 97-100 pts.

Very beautiful at this moment, performs full-dimensions, great nose of fruits, very fragrant earth tone, almost perfume. Reminds me a bit of 2002 Leroy Les Boudots, drinking last few weeks.

Very much like Chambolle-Musigny at the first 2 hours. Then becomes a very good combination of NSG intermixed.

Balance is superb. Tannin structure is very smooth. Texture is super splendid. Aftertaste is amazing soft and vibrant. Long and beautiful finished.

It would be perfect if you drink this wine along with the song " Beautiful Blue Danube " and just a few good friends, not more.

I wonder if 2005/2009 will be better than this when it reaches its prime time.

Wait and see.

Oh my god, this is good! I'm not a Burgundy nut, but this wine is almost single-handedly enough to make me one. Although it's still so young, the depth and concentration this wine has while still being incredibly elegant and silky smooth is amazing. Deep, lush, and complex, with great texture and a long, expansive finish. To steal a line from Tanzer: A dead person could identify this as Burgundy.

Pale to medium dusky garnet. Prominent aromas of lilies, roses, aromatic red berries, with a hint of dark crust. Dry dark fruit on the palate with superb concentration, clear and ringing with acids, light tannins, medium body, medium alcohol (13.5%), lovely aromatics at the back in the very firm and sustained finish. Complex, alternately flamboyant and brooding, great strength of character, beginning to mellow with age.

Wow! This 2005 was absolutely stunning from the get-go. First of all I love Cailles from Chevillon! My first thoughts… Are 2005s coming around? I do not know but this NSG is bad ass. This Is crunchy with gorgeous red fruit and mineral, with a whole cluster feel (I do not know the regimen at all). It is 17 years young and not saying “oak” at all. I cannot get over the pure red berry fruit and myriad spices from a bakers cupboard, and thoughts of dusty clay and granite mineral.

Grand Sichuan, Jersey City edition (Grand Sichuan, Grove St.): Just a stunning bottle of Burgundy - a hauntingly complex and beautiful fragrance, a palate that's so graceful and polished with fine grained tannin beneath, and somehow it keeps getting better and better with air. There's no sense trying to describe the various flavour components, because this is so much more than the sum of all the various flavours - I'll just say it seems to show equal parts fruit, earth, and more savoury developed tertiary notes, with everything coming together into a seamless whole.

Jersey Boys (Grand Sichuan, Jersey City, NJ): Beautiful nose that is classic Chevillon. Cherry, slutty, a bit gutty, sweet spices, sweet, marzipan. Palate shows cherry and spices but also meaty and earthy. Lots of structure. Finish is really structured with dusty tannins. Wine is really growing with time and the palate and finish are just killer. Tons of sweet cherries and spice. Gutty. Dusty tannins but such grip and depth. This just kept getting better and better. Wow. Nose - 5-5.5/6, Palate - 5.5-6/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5-18.5/20.

Dinner at Nectar with Scott and Rob -- generous offering by Scott, showing absolutely great. This is the glory of Burgundy! Soars from the glass with minerally earthy chocolate covered cherries. Great grip on the palate but loaded with ultra ripe cherry and strawberry. A stunner.

Incredible wine, drinking very well at the moment. Cool, graphite note initially and then exploding with amazing complex fruits and sous bois. Mouthfeel is ethereal, with extraordinary breadth and length. Proper 1er cru density, just stunning.

Slight warning, some roasted notes appeared on day 2, which give me caution about aging this too long. I will wait another 2-3 years for my last bottle but not much longer than that.

From all my encounters with Les Saint Georges I would say that this 2010 from Chevillon is a defining wine. It has it all, an intriguing, typical forest moss nose and a full packed body with ripe cherry and touch of licorice in the long finish. Lovely wine. This been my first Les Saint Georges from vintage 2010 Chevillon opened and even as it was so delicious now, I still will keep my remaining bottles for at least 5 more years … or even 10 years. P 96

My dear friend Collector 1855 recommended this wine to me... And as I ended up in the same great restaurant in Beaune ordering wine was a no-brainer. Dark ruby color. First pretty closed but opened up significantly over the course of the meal. Very elegant and complex nose of sweet crushed flowers (violets, roses), red berries (strawberries, raspberries) as well as some dark cherries and minerality. On the palate there are additional notes of licorice, but again beautiful notes of flowers, mainly red fruits and some graphite. It's medium-full bodied with stunning density and concentration, but a very weightless overall appearance (something only top-notch Burgundy can provide). It has medium-high acidity and medium+ tannin that is amazingly silky. Breath-taking length. An absolutely gorgeous Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru that drinks like pure silk. There will probably be much more aromatic complexity in a few years but right now it's the textural finesse and elegance that is super impressive. A fantastic wine!

Deep ruby color with a touch of brightening up towards the rim. This takes a small moment in the glass, but unfolding beautifully with notes of pure red fruit, cranberries, red cherries, but also some dark red fruit, some smoke, sweet spices, minerality, a touch of sous-bois, also some white pepper. It‘s medium-full bodied, with excellent mid-palate persistence, medium+ tannin that is perfectly silky, high acidity providing a lot of tension and brightness. There is this cool, tense, cold-climate style Burgundy can show in the colder vintages when there is still enough matière to be substantial. Excellent length with beautiful purity and tension.

Even better than the 2009, still closed, so wait some more years, it will reward you. Burgundy is still a secret for me, you never know when to open a bottle. Luckily still some bottles left.
