2/26/2017 - dharrison93 Likes this wine: 96 pointsSublime. Deep ruby color with no sediment, this wine is fully mature and open for business. Exquisite laser-focused nose of super clean pinot fruit, black cherry and spice, with beautiful perfume. |

12/12/2014 - Toro Nero Likes this wine: 96 pointsCrystalline bright red in the glass. No sediment at all. Fresh raspberry and blueberry and red currant jams on the nose. The wine is fresh and bright, with lively acidity. Crushed flowers, red currants, tart strawberries. A bit of earth and leaves. Finishes strong with minerals, wet stones. Really shows off the vintage. Gorgeous, gorgeous stuff. Very youthful; will lay down for a long time. 3 in the cellar, wish Santa would bring me another case. |

7/30/2019 - vinhonotte Likes this wine: 95 pointsFine Wines SG - The World of Pinot Noir: Burgundy vs the World (Fine Wines SG): Some keen florals and red cherries on the nose, as well as a bit of clove spices. Subtle, elegant, tannins that seem resolved and somewhat acidic, could even get some tea leaves over the strawberries and grass. With some breathing, the fruits bloomed, and it started to exhibit some ripe strawberries, which carried on to the lengthy finish. Great! |

8/6/2013 - Jonathan T Likes this wine: 95 pointsThe one adjective my dining companion used was "ethereal". My first thought was "fruit purity". The intoxicating nose seamlessly transitions to the bright red fruits that envelope the palate in silk. The flavors were authentic in a way I rarely find in Cali pinots. This was not cherry pie, or cherry cola. This was grazing perfectly ripe cherries at the farmer's market. The analogue in the culinary world would be a chef who starts with the freshest ingredients and then gets out of the way. The wine must have given us subconscious cues as we skipped the cheese course and opted for a plate of simply sauteed chanterelles that were a heavenly pairing. Burg aficionados may quible that this Echezeax is simplistic and lacks some of the depth and complexity of the finest Grand Crus. Perhaps. But, the components of the wine were so in balance with nothing out of place. In my opinion, this wine is "simple" in the same way that great risotto is "simply" cheese and rice. Consumed at Marche Moderne in Costa Mesa. Bottle purchased on release from Premier Cru. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

1/3/2019 - SonnyChiba wrote: 94 pointsDrinking nicely at the moment and only needed a short decant. Beautiful nose, very subtle fruit in the background, combined with a leafy herbaceous note that was quite nice. Supple and smooth texture, good richness in the mid palate. Complex but not overly so, just really delicious in an elegant and clean pinot fruit kind of way. Drink now but will likely hold for a while longer. |
