4/29/2016 - bjlcrucrazy Likes this wine: 96 pointsServed at Churchill's and purposely opened and poured into white Bordeaux glasses at the same time as the 2006 Gimonnet SC in order to let it breath and open up it's fruit. I have learned from before but this was showing off in under 10 minutes!! Like a submarine breaking the surface of the ocean as it comes up or like the seamless transition from Beethoven's 3rd to 4th movement in his 5th symphony this wine is monumentally good. Make no mistake you are partaking in some of the best PN terroir in all of France. Terry Theise likens Ambonnay to Chambolle Musigny and if this is the case I need to save up so I can drink more of the latter. In the meantime I think I will just try to drink more of this!! Shame this was my last bottle of a case of 6 and it was the best one! Obtained in 2011 it goes to prove that these NVs just get better and better with time on the cork |

This is like a hypothetical blend of the power of Bollinger/Krug with the Finesse of Taittinger and Veuve. Wonderful toast, biscuit, caramel and lemon rind on the nose. First impression is of rich, leesy toast, followed by an incredibly creaminess on the midpalate, finishing with a lovely acid lift, citrus, and mineral on the back end. This has it all: a lovely yeastiness and full body on the attack, with an incredible mousse and sensuous mouthfeel, and the citrus and laser-like precision on the finish. Unbelievable quality for around $40. This bottle was disgorged on June 2010. |

This non vintage wine is a blend of 20 vintages and is made in a solera style. Disgorged Sept 2013. This is one of 2 Tete du Cuvees made by this estate. Majority Chardonay. Wonderful stuff if you like deep, rich, full bodied Champagne. Golden hue. Lighter bead with fine bubbles. Very aromatic with aromas of rasted hazelnuts. Chalky and minerally with notes of peaches and powerful apple flavors. This kicked it in with secondary cherry notes on the persistent finish. 95 points. |

Drink this in the campground in Tennessee has gobs of red Ambonnay fruit and a lovely tartness, reminds me of raspberries, apple skin, and wild strawberries. This wine kind of gushes, in a good way with plenty of mineral characteristics leaning towards coppery side. It is mouth filling and mouth watering, juicy delicious. Discouraged May 2021 |
