The color is see-through strawberry. Nose is creamy red raspberries, strawberries, sassafras, boysenberries and more; it sits above the glass opening like royalty sitting at a joust. coaxing bring even more depth and fragrance out. This needs 30 minutes to truly show what it's got. Palate is macerated red berries, violets and spring flowers with a last moment entry of near ripe strawberries. Balance is super-deft and finish crazy long. Acidity spot-on drop dead perfect. This wine has incredible structure, mouth-feel and presence, It is a wine to serve special guests, loving family and highly respected guests. It is a real special Pinot Noir from a special part of this world. |

Deeply textured and fragrant with the things you would want in a Bien Nacido Pinot. Lovely orange rind, sweet bouncy fruit and elegance all amidst a framework that belies its components as singular components, but the alchemy is extraordinary. Focused and pure, this has amazingly lithe tannins and an acidity that defies gravity as this all hovers just above the palate in near suspense of time & space, but enough with superlatives, the honest point I want to drive it this is awesome. It may be my favorite of the Sandler Biens that I have had to date and I am respectfully requesting more. I am scoring this commensurate with its showing at this time of it's and my combined perfect evolution and isn't that what its really all about? 2/24/2016 - Djfermentation Likes this wine: 95 pointsThis first bottle was consumed a few days ago on vacation at a fantastic restaurant on the California Central Coast therefore formal notes escape me, however, there was no denying the beauty of this Chardonnay. This is one of my favorite Northern Cali Chards in memory. What a fantastic wine with enough roundness for interest and fantastic, food friendly, acidity on the finish. It paired wonderfully with oysters as well as scallops. Heintz Vineyard is a special spot for Chardonnay and Ed hit it out of the park with this effort! It is still quite young and will be fun to watch it progress. |

4/9/2020 - Charlie Carnes Likes this wine: 95 pointsMan, I love the Keefer! I drank it along with the Bien Nacido. Both are great, but the Keefer simply outshined the other. This wine was super light in color, call it translucent purple red. It was aromatic of a kitchen fully baking and cooking using all burners and ovens. It had sun heated dark red cherries, amazing pretty spice box aromas, very pretty soil perceptions. It had a terrific mouthfeel and swallow. It was warm, inviting, vigorous, and just lovely. Shared these two wines with the college kids that are covid hibernating with us. We had some interesting discussions on this wine. Here are the bullets from all of them: red cherry, earth, mouth full of dirt, dark, mellow, sleepy, flowing, flowing again, spots-dunno what that means, but he stayed with that. No surprise, with lots of swirling the truth become obvious, this is amazing. Slight orange peel notes, soft cranberries and a general feel of a lighter body then where it started and its all good. Perfect balance and length and all is right with the world. Sandler has become the number one producer in my cellar, and if you know me, that says a lot. |

A true testament of the artistry applied by human hand. I am trying real hard to find commonality with any of the prior 50 or so bottles of Sandler Pinot I have sampled but can find none whatsoever. This is a unique addition to the lineup. The fruits hold on boldly for a lomg time and yet, this is not a bold wine. Amazing. So much in this and if you own some I would consider you one lucky pinotphile. |

Historically one of my favorite of Ed's Sandler Pinots, I have followed for many years and have drank and enjoyed numerous bottles and I can say, Bravo! After a four year hiatus, it's back. This is precise and right in line with the BN from years past but maybe with a bit more verve and presence while always preserving it's elegance, class and creed. |
