8/28/2012 - King JR wrote: 100 pointsDR. J's notes: Had the 2006 WOTY '01 Tenuta last night for my buddy's 60th birthday. Ten of us delighted in a double magnum that had been personally signed by Giacomo di Neri. Without a doubt, this was the best Brunello I have ever tasted, and I believe I have sampled the best of the 97's, 99's and 01's. The nose was extraordinary - vanilla, light red fruits, flowers, some chocolate, a delightful hint of mint (which I usually do not like). The tannins were perfectly integrated and silky smooth. I love it at this stage, but wonder what it would be like in a few more years (still very ruby colored). Based on other reviews, I wonder if aging in a double magnum has made this wine better/different? What can I say, this was the best! Evening ended wonderfully with a 1983 Chateau d'Yquem. Life is good! Congrats to Andy and Giacomo! |

3/9/2011 - passionatepursuit wrote: 100 pointsDecanted for 4 hours; not enough time. This wine is young and powerful. On this day the tannins were holding the fruit tightly. I really want to tell my wine friends I have had a 100 point wine, so I will go ahead and agree with Suckling on this one and why not. This wine has incredible promise: The Fruit is there; the structure is there, the tannins are there; they are just not all together yet. This will need at least 2 more years before I open my next bottle and plan to consume one per year for the next 12. Take some advice and wait a couple of years. |

12/25/2016 - texanoblues Likes this wine: 100 pointsDeep red, with black center, and clear, and some rust/bricking at the edges. Open and stunning nose with: black cherry, dark chocolate, balsamic reduction, and anise. Entry and mid palate were nothing less than sublime. Waves of cherry, plum, red licorice, balsamic, and chocolate wrapped in the most extraordinary melted, velvety tannins I have encountered. Long finish which fades to plum, chocolate, and granite. 100. |

6/1/2014 - james05500 Likes this wine: 100 pointsThis is the perfect wine!!! Technical notes will not reflect its greatness! It might be a benchmark for Brunello. Perfect, ryby color with some brown reflex. Marvelous nose with violet hints. And heaven on the palate!!!! 3 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (11) |

8/12/2015 - rickswan Likes this wine: 100 pointsEnjoyed this to celebrate my sweetheart's 50th birthday. Perhaps the private chef and view over the Costa Rican coastline helped, but this was the best wine we have ever tasted. It had such depth and complexity. If this isn't a perfect wine I'm not sure what is. |

11/14/2015 - Per-Harald Likes this wine: 100 pointsAttractive, powerful, very good to drink today, a massive wine, very few have tasted better wine, layer upon layer of fruit aromas, the flavor will not stop until after at least 1 minute, it is perhaps possible to make better wine in Tuscany, but it will be only a bit different, not noticeably better, this deserves 100 points. A Lady killer ! mais, ce qui est le vin parfait? |

1/17/2024 - Chris Giammona Likes this wine: 100 pointsWow, that was the common theme of our wine groups 2010 tasting. The bouquet was beautiful with dark fruits, tobacco, and spice - very aromatic and refined. On the palate there was also a hint of black pepper and the finish was long and wonderful. We savored this one for quite a while. Still had plenty of age left. |

5/21/2022 - uve Likes this wine: 100 pointsMy goodness this is classy. If this is in its drinking window, it's at the beginning of it. Decanted for 6 hours before trying, but it was still so reluctant to reveal itself fully. When we got there, it was a revelation. Lip-smackingly inviting: red and black fruit, cherries and blackberries, the secondary notes include spiced cake, ground cloves, cinnamon, herbs too but nothing overpowering, everything finely balanced. The finish goes on forever. |

10/30/2021 - dfresh wrote: 99 pointsParker got this right. As close to a perfect wine as I’ve ever had. Bouquet is perfume, floral, blueberry, black tea, fig, soy sauce, baking spice notes and inviting. The pallet is refined and seductive but not in a fruit forward way; far from it; structured and complex; soft yet powerful; tight yet forgiving; delicate yet concentrated. Finish is long and inviting. It is like watching a close game, riveting and enjoyable. Highest wine score I’ve ever given. |

1/6/2020 - spendergast Likes this wine: 99 pointsDecanted 1 hour. CdN continues to impress with this bold wine: dense dark fruit, cedar, spice washing the palate likes waves on a beach. Beautiful structure and finesse. Should drink well for years to come. |

1/16/2016 - John McCabe wrote: 99 pointsPretty astonishing..so vibrant and energetic across the palate, yet composed and controlled too. Poised, luxurious, extravagant, delicate and expressive. So lovely really. I've been to the winery in Tuscany, so maybe there is some subconscious bias. Not sure if this is better than the '06; both are sublime. The '06 likely has more power but the '10 feels more expansive and flamboyant, more inner-detail, light on its feet; this has everything really. I'm not sure if or how this improves with time as it's so virtually perfect now. If there's a better Brunello, am not sure I've tasted it. Surreal, masterful, otherworldly, off the charts. Pure beauty. |

2/12/2016 - King JR wrote: 99 pointsPossibly the best Brunello I have ever tasted (I know I've said that before for the 01 Tenuta Nuova and the 01 Ciacci Reserve). But this wine was shockingly good. Smooth, silky - but the NOSE, omg, the nose. So much going on - berries, chocolate, vanilla creme. Just an amazing wine. I imagine this wine will be in very short supply - get some before it's all gone. Why not 100? It's just been released. It has to improve - I look forward to giving the 100 score on my next tasting!! 4 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

11/8/2021 - lvjohn Likes this wine: 99 pointsEasily the best Brunello we've drunk! We wanted something really different with our grilled flank steak and this proved a winner all the way around. Decanted and let rest for several hours. Great floral and fruit nose. Intense flavor and complexity on the pallet. Long lovely enduring aftertaste such that rarely happens like this wine offers. Drinking superbly now. |

9/26/2019 - John McCabe wrote: 99 pointsAlways one of my favorite wines of all time and this didn't disappoint. For Brunello in general I think '06 is my favorite vintage from all the ones I've had since and including the '97 vintage. This is rich, elegant, masses of licorice with a beautiful dryness on the finish. So penetrating but everything is in balance. Utterly captivating, sensuous, magical. Glad I've a few more. This may be better than the '10 - perhaps softer. |

11/19/2019 - Matt Scott Likes this wine: 99 pointsDrinking exceptionally well, this goddess has the prowess and bones to last for many more years. Full-bodied, and sultry, with a very long, persistent finish. Such staying power. Bramble berry, black licorice, porcini mushroom, basil, medium-roasted coffee and sage. Magnetic and legendary, this is my favorite Tenuta Nuova. The secondary nuances will become more present in the next few years. My second bottle of this chanteuse, and is very consistent. Drink now - 2038. |
