7/21/2023 - jenacass Likes this wine: 100 pointsLots of sediment after sitting a year. Apple notes when first opened. Grapefruits after airing. The wine had lost some of its “taste of Provence”. |

9/23/2018 - brinko99 Likes this wine: 97 pointsA near perfect example of what New World Syrah can be... textbook varietal purity that can only be found in the cooler vineyards: olive, meat, wisps of dark floral aromas. Perfectly balanced structure balanced between dark fruit, stem tannin, savory acid, slight chalk finish. Please Denner, bring back the Duvarita! |

1/8/2011 - russdan60 wrote: 97 pointsWell I've had two of these in the past week and waited to rate this until I'd tried it again. This wine is the absolute best syrah I have ever had. It is just an amazing wine. WS rated it 97 pts and I'm not going to argue with them. It's that good. If you can find it buy it. I just joined their wine club to make sure I can get this in the future. |

Syrah with 1% Roussane according to the label. Black raspberries, roasted meats, black pepper, and violets on a very expressive nose. On the palate, the same flavors in an almost seamless package of deliciousness. Complex. deep. Balanced. Long finish. Another wine that my wife and I both loved and practically gulped down. Wish i had more. |

7/8/2023 - mwneil Likes this wine: 97 pointsWine is as good as it gets, great fruit with tannin and acid that rocks, complex flavors, great structure, 14.4% abv but medium body and drank easily with swordfish, plantains, NJ eggplant, grilled zucchini, guacamole, roasted corn on the cob, another Denner triumph, will drink again as I think I have another bottle, will check in on Keplinger Syrah again. |

Some have been criticizing Denner's program, including too much oak and alcohol, but that certainly was not an issue with the 05!!! Really liked it.... |

7/6/2012 - Ltomanek wrote: 97 pointsOne of my favorite wines over the last few years. A 95% Syrah/5% Viognier co-fermented wine with exquisite berry flavor and a smooth, almost silky, texture. I can't praise this wine enough. It will go with any food. I have tasted this wine repeatedly over the last two years and think it is getting even more rounded and delicate than it was when it was first released in 2010. |

5/3/2020 - mwneil Likes this wine: 97 pointsInsane wine, great bouquet, dark purple color, intense flavor, complexity and great structure, the wine drinks so easily, great fruit that has that purity of flavor, drank with barbecued ribs, not sure I can get another bottle. 1 person found this helpful, do you? 2016 Denner Mother of ExilesPaso Robles Red Bordeaux Blend more |
4/27/2019 - Christine Havens Likes this wine: 96 pointsA blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, Denner’s 2016 Mother of Exiles is totally opaque in the glass with legs as dark as indigo. It’s slightly tight on opening, but swirling in the glass reveals wild blueberries and crème de cassis submerged beneath more ephemeral tones of violets, Chinese Five Spice, char, forest floor, and illuvium. Broad shouldered and juicy at the core, it's deftly balanced with supple, with well-integrated tannins lending structure and finesse. An unhurried finish terminates in bay laurel, green peppercorn, and subtle smokey minerality. Sample |

1/1/2023 - RodaParis Likes this wine: 96 pointsTannins have mostly fallen away, but still a bold and powerful wine. It's now smooth and elegant and drinking quite well, as opposed to how rough it was upon release. Delicious and highly recommend. If you have it, drink it now! |

10/27/2012 - Justin B wrote: 96 pointsFantastic wine right from pop'n'pour and got smoother and more complex with more air in the glass. Intoxicating nose in a lovely way... I could smell this wine forever. Very full body taste of lots of berries... blackberry, blueberry and boysenberry. The 5% Viognier adds a bit of a nice floral component too. Even though it is a big wine, it is also very balanced and seamless... no heat at all. Bravo. |
