8/27/2021 - Fugu Me Likes this wine: 99 pointsPnP, consumed over two nights. Rich and savory, but soft. Oak was a bit strong in the first night but mellowed out considerably. Perfectly fine on initial pour but showed a bit better the second night. |

2/26/2011 - Fugu Me wrote: 92 pointsWe first attempted a pop 'n pour with this, which was our mistake, anxious as we were to start drinking. Ended up with lots of sediment in the glass, as I hadn't planned in advance by standing the bottle up for a while. Corrected by pouring through a filter and decanting for a couple of hours (my wife and I took turns pacing around the table, furtively glancing at the decanter, periodically giving it a sniff. Is it ready yet? How about now? NOW? Yes, now!) It was worth the wait. This wine delivers. Smoothly mellowed tannins provide a nice long finish. Medium body, not as full as some years. Currant flavors predominate, with hints of cherry and cedar. Still has enough life for a couple more years of cellaring, but probably not longer than that. |

3/4/2011 - Fugu Me wrote: 91 pointsDay 1: Pop 'n pour. Too anxious to give this a try to waste time decanting. First impression: Bright nose and fiery on the first sip, then wrapped around my mouth like soft black velvet. Strong fruit; cherries and raspberries. Hint of chocolate and some evergreen. Day 2: Nothing but smoooooooooooooth. Very nice mouthfeel. Really opened up over night. The finish is like a deep kiss that got interrupted because your girlfriend's parents just opened the door: it leaves you wanting more. It would be nice if it was a bit longer. Overall, this wine does not disappoint. |

1/11/2011 - Fugu Me wrote: 90 pointsStill very young and required extensive decanting. Since we did not finish the bottle in one night, I'm looking forward to seeing how it continues to open up. A very nice wine, especially for the price; I expect it to mature nicely over the next several years. |

3/9/2011 - Fugu Me wrote: 88 pointsFruit, fruit, jammy fruit. Drank over two days, the second day paired beautifully with an almond butter and raspberry jam sandwich. The big, predominant red fruits are matched by very soft tannins and offset with some heat from the alcohol. Finish is moderate. Seems like a distinct departure in style from prior vintages; will be interesting to see what the future holds. |

1/25/2020 - Fugu Me Likes this wine: NRUncorked and allowed to slow O for ~2 hours prior to pouring. First taste was tannic and oaky. Vanilla from the oak dominated most other notes. Allowed to breathe in my glass for another hour, it started to open up. Tannins receded a bit and the oak gave way to some lovely fruit and leather notes. Paired nicely with jamon, aged manchego and other tasty bits. Saving 2/3 of the bottle for tomorrow. Hoping that it will continue to open more overnight. |

3/23/2022 - Fugu Me Likes this wine: NRMy last of the “Christmas Cuvée.” PnP, this continues to drink well for my palate. Savory Rocks notes, fruit definitely I the background. My last note on these from 2018 said they would last another 3-5 years, and this final bottle seems to support it. Drink up now. |

10/16/2018 - Fugu Me Likes this wine: NRThis has held up well as a baby-Reynvaan. Olives, brine and Rocks funk continue to be evident. Good on PnP, held up fine overnight for day 2. This will easily hold on for another 3-5 years, but nothing wrong with drinking up now. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

6/12/2022 - Fugu Me Likes this wine: NROpened one hour prior to serving , consumed over two nights. A bit tannic and overall tight on night one, but still good with Santa Maria spiced flank steak and roasted veggies. Opened up nicely overnight, turning into velvety smooth fruit, pairing well with charcuterie. |

11/11/2017 - Fugu Me Likes this wine: NRPnP, consumed over ~three hours. This definitely opened up over the course of the evening. Consistent with prior note. I'll just add that this was a perfect pairing for bistecca alla fiorentina. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

8/27/2017 - Fugu Me Likes this wine: NROne of those moments where the "I like it" option on CT falls short. The nose on this is immediately expressive and more floral than I would have expected from a Cab Franc driven wine, but it explodes from the glass on PnP. The palate is initially tight, but opens with 60-90 minutes of air. The term "precision" comes to mind, where every part of this wine is just spot on. Fruit, but not fruit-forward. Tannic, but not a beast. Structure and body galore, but not heavy. Consumed across three days, the last glass showed no hint of fading; I'll tuck away a couple of bottles for a handful of years before revisiting, although the temptation to open sooner will be strong. |

10/29/2016 - Fugu Me Likes this wine: NREarthy and tannic in that particularly Umbrian fashion. Good to go on opening, the nose really shines with this wine. As the bottle warmed up over a couple of hours, the palate fell of a step, but was still lovely. Served with BBQ and fried chicken. Thanks, wine-strategies! |

1/21/2024 - Fugu Me Likes this wine: NRPnP, consumed over four hours. While this was excellent on initial pour, it was truly singing about two hours in. Tannins are integrated, creating a silken texture on the palate. Rocks signature notes of olives, tar, and roasted meats, with hints of red berries, all tied nicely in a fairly elegant experience. Nowhere near being over the hill, this should easily drink well for another 5-10 years. |

12/17/2015 - Fugu Me Likes this wine: NRIron in a silk glove. What you expect from the Rocks: iron, fruit, but so silky smooth on the palate, it just glides down. Very approachable on PnP, but held strong and showed development over two nights. Plenty of life ahead of this. |
