Yeah, soft on the palate and tannin. Nice level of maturity. Earthy palate. Easy drinking. Let's let this open up more.
Later. Fun drinking. Very straight forward and quaffable. Thanks Sam and Stacy a la Binnys. Still pretty medium bodied.

Fresh and vibrant palate, lemon-lime, very mineral. I’ve always been a touch on the fence about the softer-style of Foscarino and really jamming on this expression.

Deep dark cherry. Light maturity of the fruit. Excellent aromatic carry. A modest second cousin to menthol. Not there in that respect, but…
2 hours in, opens even more so, extraordinary good for Martinenga. Shows some tar, but oh so, in a great spot.

Turning into that Nikolaihof Smaragd Gruner 06. Spiced pear fruit. Guava. Still lots of freshness.
Day 2 and holding just fine for a 12 year old PG. under Stelvin Cap. Medium minus goldenrod color. When you dive in on the palate, with some more air, this falls right back into Pear Jellybean with mineral underlay.

Just a dusting of sediment on the inside edge of the cork. It's been quite a while since I've checked in on this one. The nose immediately suggests are more harmonious expression. Violet candy and pure blackberry aroma. the green seems to have been digested into more of a mineral dustiness. a cola Bottle Cap candy aroma. blood and iron. the aroma that makes one fall in love with a wine again.
Palate is fantastic. Again, violet and blackberry, mineral. green seems to have gone away. We'll see if it emerges with more air. medium/- fine-grained tannin. a hint of a clay-y tug to them. a solid medium body. 13.0% ABV seems to back up that feeling.

This wine is drinking absolutely stunningly at the cork pull and one of the BEST Diana Madeline I have had the pleasure of enjoying.

Day 2. And still fantastic. Harmonious, blackberry, mineral, iron, anise. There is a minty note to this, but nowhere near as pronounced as I've gotten off of Heitz Martha's Vineyard. A milk chocolate note across the nose and palate. Satisfying and complex. The palate is soft and round, drinks like a dream. This would be a fun side-by-side with Ridge Estate Cab and/or Monte Bello.

Let me reiterate, this is one of the BEST Diana Madeline I've had the opportunity to enjoy.

High toned, has a little aldehyde, masquerading as gunflint aromas, lightly salted and a flavor/aroma I can get behind in a nuanced approach. And so in the pocket. Palate suggests partial malo. Great Chard. Maybe closer to Vasse Felix Heytesbury than the French might prefer.

7 days in Italy.; 6/16/2012-6/22/2012 (Italy): Along side the 2009. Plantings are now 11 years old. 2003 was the first vintage. 7th vintage. 2 different Burgundy clones.
2009: Mineral and dark red fruit aromas. Almost soft smoke notes, fresh brick, not really, hot bricks. Was $35, now down to $25. 750ml at tasting, MAGNUM at dinner, La Ciau de Tournovento.
2003: MAGNUM...has the same mineral edge as the 2009. Has a very drying appeal, and still rather primary in character on the palate. 2003 was a hot vintage and the color suggests that even next to the youth of the 2009.

A the cork pull, a sheer and full lemon zest off the nose, but it opens to flash a lean and delicate pineapple note. That fills everything out just a touch. There is a little vanilla in the nose. Chantilly's lace. Sugar cookie and surely an acid that sets it apart from CA Chards. Very clean and mineral on the palate with texture that just lubes this down the tube. Palate really emphasizes a fat fruit texture. Some creaminess shows up on the finish, but that aside, oak's a quiet afterthought on the finish.
And wow, this is in a sweet spot right now.
