7/21/2008 - BillB656 wrote: NRThis is really awkward on Day 1. No cohesion, monolithic structure, and flat. Day 2 reveals a completely different wine. It’s juicy and vibrant with both plum and sour cherry, filled with minerals and dusty tannins, and pleasantly persistant in the finish. Hold on to this one for a while |

8/16/2008 - BillB656 wrote: NRCat pee, cut grass, and canned asparagus ramped up to warp 6, so much so it was nearly off-putting. But underneath all that aroma this wine was pretty tasty. Lots of lemon/lime with gooseberry, quite rich (some wood?), but with lots and lots of acidity. The acid was too much for the scallops but it would probably work really well with swordfish or halibut. |

2/28/2010 - BillB656 Likes this wine: NRWhat a lovely wine. Crisp, clean lemony sea-breeze mist with limestone minerality galore. Showing some development in that it only takes 30min or so to open up instead of the 3 hours of austerity of my last bottle. Still quite youthful in vivacity. Drink and hold. |

3/24/2010 - BillB656 Likes this wine: NRI've gone through quite a few bottles of this and after the last bottle I was concerned with it going down hill. Well this bottle was spot on. Clean entry, lots of salinity, some almond oil, savory, very cleansing. |

12/30/2010 - BillB656 Does not like this wine: NR#08 02 I couldn't make up a name this long. Too bad the length of the name doesn't relate to the finish or complexity of this one. I had this two years ago and it was just starting to show some creamy characteristics but was very vibrant. Now it is fairly lifeless and one-dimensional. Lots of petrol, some white fruit, and decent acidity but just little joy. |

3/26/2009 - BillB656 wrote: NRPre-fermentation blend of 65% nebbiolo, 20% vespolina, 15% croatina. A bit shrill at first but blossoms into a well balanced, deep wine with an hour of air. Sure there is lots of fruit, but it's an interesting array of brandied dark cherries, pomegranate, and balsamic drizzled strawberries. Some usual nebbiolo traits of dried flowers, dried orange peel, and a hint of tar are all bolstered by well defined structure, boisterous acidity, and a core of minerality. Quite enjoyable but costly, but from what I'm reading, $30 is the new $9. From an old Lessona estate now owned by Paulo DeMarchi of Isole e Olena. (Imp: Guiliana Imports) |

6/23/2008 - BillB656 wrote: NRThis may be the most lush and most accessible vintage of Briords that I’ve tried. It started out very fruit forward and became more exceedingly granite structured with air some few hours later. I can’t stress enough how delicious this wine is and is the proverbial steal at $13. Served with grilled, shell-on shrimp (coated in oil, breadcrumbs, lots of black pepper and lemon) and simply grilled diver scallops. Life is good. |
