Lemon zest, oyster shell and minerals. Beautifully composed, pairing so well with a diverse array of food (tonight was fusilli with clams, Serrano, pecorino, garlic and roasted cherry tomatoes). It’s amazing how this wine went from low acidity and almost flabby to tight with punchy acidity. I have one bottle left that I will likely drink this coming year. |

2002 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er CruPinot Noir more |

Apart of a softening of structure over the course of those hours, there was not much improvement. There was no increasing lift to the fruit, nor any increase in fruit sweetness. The result was a consistently tart and dry palate, highlighted by tea, dryness, and some bottom notes of red fruit and forest floor. Cellaring this wine was a waste.

11/26/2023 4:54:00 PM - I’ve been drinking this wine since the 2010. The ‘18 is different. The vintage is not as balanced as recent releases like ‘19, ‘20. I did not buy much ‘18, but if you love it, then right in!
