Sat, 08/17/19, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): N: HONEY slightly atop grass with earthy undertones; Intensity lurking?

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by counterbalancing acidity which is the driving force into & through the LONG, tangy/swt finish with hints of honey & spice. An INTERESTING style for now & into '20, probably > adept with food than as a quaff. My VG+/EXC-, trending towards the higher for QPR. [I saw no other source with which to compare this vendor's $8.95.]

Sat, 08/03/19, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): N: Fairly pungent grassiness, POSS with mineral undertones?

P: Lt, poss LM, body; NICE, almost swtish frt balanced by a crisp acidity which somewhat softens by the LONG, TANGY finish with OCCASIONAL *hints* of swtness. Would be best with lighter fare as may be a bit deficient in intensity. For now & through '20. My VG+, but ya' GOTTA luv' acidity... [I saw no other source with which to compare this vendor's $8.95.]

Color: light yellow. Attractive bouquet of melon, green apples, grapefruit and a touch of newly mowed grass. Light-to-medium-bodied palate showing good acidic cut with some mineral notes. Pear, melon, buttery(?) pineapple along with a subtle Sauv-blanc like grassiness. Clean, well-made with a nice finish. At $11 this delivers.

A crisp, refreshing white with decent acidity. It accompanied a thrown-together stir-fry of onion, red bell pepper, cauliflower, broccoli, bok choy, and cut-up tuna steak. Not exactly a classic match, but it was a pleasant combination,

Not usually a big fan of white wine, this is one I would buy again. Fresh, citrusy with mineral notes. Very good with cheeses and fruit and nuts.

A good bottle of verdejo. Fresh, tasty, aromatic and interesting. A glugger or a sipper, up to you!

On the nose, the wine has a good variety of aromas. It has freshly cut grass, citrus(lemon and lime) ripe pineapple, dried apricot with over-ripened brown banana still in the skin and almond notes. This wine smells fresh, yet the banana skin and dried fruit gives it a slightly developed angle as well. It also has subtle honey notes.

The palate displays a light-medium body with refreshing verdejo acidity, not sharp, but uplifting and most welcomed given the texture and ripe fruit characteristics. Bone dry with a long and layered grassy finish. The flavour profile is similar to the nose and all work in harmony.

Not much comes to mind in the way of negative thoughts, maybe it could do with a touch more muscle as well as flavour intensity, but in all honesty it punches above its weight. I like it!

Drink fresh, within 3 years of vintage ideally.

This was a pleasant tasting Chardonnay type wine with the initial sharpness of a Sauvignon blanc but with the finish of a nice Chardonnay. It was smooth, oaky, and buttery.

13.5% alcohol by volume. Very attractive Rueda white wine from 100% Verdejo grapes. Pale gold with slightly green tinge and transparency. Viscous. White fruits and minerals on the nose. Dry and a bit biting on the palate with subtle fruit and acids and stones. i would rate this in the 86-88 range depending on how it strikes me at the moment.

Had a glass at Vino Volo at Detroit Metro Airport and purchased a bottle to take home for a Spanish tapas night. Minerals, acids, pear and a touch of grapefruit. Pleasant.
