Bright nose of lemon, overall wine made in a very restrained style, unlike a lot of Leroy's Auxey this doesn't have a lot of flint or sulphur in the nose. Very elegant chardonnay and need at least a few more years to show. Minerals didn't started to show up until after 3 hours in the glass.

Failed effort by Madam Leroy. Drinking an Auxey Duresses from her will always be benchmarked with D'auvenay but this is utterly disappointing. I can't agree with the wholesaler's comments. 2014 is a fantastic vintage for white, I just don't have that sting sharp acidity from this wine. Hence don't think this wine would have that endurance to go for long. You would buy this wine from Japan but would not recommend such effort.

Explosive popcorn, nut fruit, minerals and gentle oak. Palate has salty minerals with many layers. It just kept giving you more power with soaring acidity.

Light golden color, popped and poured already showing lots of popcorn, butter, flint and sulphur. Palate mirrors the nose with slightly ripe sweet fruit at the back, long finish filled with minerals. Another flamboyant white from Madam Leroy.

Friends wanted to give another try at this 2 days after. We let the wine air for about 4 hours before serving, yet it's showing no signs of evolving. Kind of falling apart, therefore an even lower score.

Gunflint, exuberant aromatics. High acid, unctuous and tense palate. Punches way above its weight. (270/294)

Bottle 208/294- Popcorn, gunflint and citrus. Intense palate with superb cut. Punching way above its level. Hard to tell its not a Dauvenay if it is served blind.

Only 154 bottles made for 10. Very crisp nose of sulphur, coal gas and flint. Quite restrained and need a lot of time to mellow down, balance slightly on the ripe side, long finish with minerals. Will need a few more years to resolve itself.

Incredible depth like Grand Cru
at first very flinty
Apple to white peach fruit tone
Ripe and Freah Lemon juice
Nutty flavor
after few hours, Honey flavor
Well Ripe, but also It represents a Cool Terrior.
It's a masterpiece with a paradoxical character.

Corked pulled and the hazelnut came through. Very nutty nose and a touch of reduction and sulphur at first, blew off into a flinty, nutty white with butterscotch to boot. Very well balanced without the usual 07 sharp acidity, components in good proportions. Without the ultimate density but it will continue to impress you at the end with very long mineral stony finish.

Bottle 209/300. It has been a while since I last had this cuvee which is only available in Takashimaya. Explosive nose with popcorn, grilled hazelnut, bread crumb and fireworks. Quite rich and compact on the palate with moderate plus length. The nose alone is an absolute killer. A few people thought it was a Dauvneay when it was served blind. Close enough.

Not sure if we opened this too early. Def no premox or corked sign. The nose was awkward with no floralness or fruit at all. Palate had lemon lime and detergent. Its so off that I would think its a bad bottle.

This is really singing, very flinty nose with some popcorn. Medium plus palate, slightly creamy with balanced acidity and lots of minerals in the end. Drinking very well now.

Side by side with the 14 Auexy Laviere. This bottle is more mineral driven with less of the nutty and popcorn nose of the 14. There is some sulphur, minerals, and flint on the nose. Palate has a long mineral finish.

Another great bottle, but a little more tart than previous examples. Still a great example of Leroy at this price.

TTTG Blind (very brief notes): Strawberry and red cherry nose with a bit of a floral note. Very polished and fruit-forward, but with a very off-putting artificial non-descript red fruit sweetness that I associate with cheap generic Cali pinots. At reveal, was surprised both by Leroy (old world?) and 2004 (not green at all). Ready to drink.

On a side note, I am quite amazed by the great variety of tasting notes that seem to describe entirely different wines. I wonder what is the source of such inconsistency in this wine.

Green. Only interesting thing was that at room temperature the bitter green pepper flavor was much more hidden than when I drank it more chilled. When cold I literally had to spit the wine out.

I've had three bottles so far, all bad. Unfortunately, I have a few more to go. Thinking of dumping all in the drain, but I may keep them for science's sake.

A very good showing, the usual cloudy red-orange color. Still amazing nose of rose petals, potpouri, tangerine peel and red tea. Can smell this forever and ever. Palate with decent integrity but I still pretty how it showed 1-2years ago. Nose at least 93-94 and palate 90-91. Still not sure how long this wine will last.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): This wine continues to perplex me. Absolutely charming and alluring, but it comes across as an exciting 30 year old Burgundy, not an 8 year old wine. Served alongside the Leroy2004 Vosne-Romanee, I correctly identified these as the two wines in the pairing (I knew Ken was bringing 2 bottles of Leroy 2004), but incorrectly identified which was which. Rich and powerful with dominant baking spice in charge. Very mature red fruit. Drink up...yesterday.

The emporer has no clothes. I've had this wine 3 times, this was the best bottle of the 3, and it sucked. The other 2 just sucked worse. Some of the wines that came to the Seattle market were totally flawed. This bottle from a different source, wasn't cloudy and horrible, it was just horrible. Green Meanies? In spades. But also just bad.
