I was told this wine drinks just like a CdP, but from a lesser known appellation, and therefore, is much less expensive. I am happy to say that my Chateauneufs taste nothing like this wine. It isn't inexpensive due to its lack of pedigree - it's because they can't get a penny more for it. Too bad about the brett, because there actually is some decent fruit that just peeks through, and it also has beautiful structure. My advice is to spend twice as much, and get a bottle of something like Mas de Boislauzon, CdP. It is still relatively inexpensive, yet it is a serviceable, clean representation of its appellation. This wine is just too flawed to merit a higher rating. |
