Stunning wine. Cherry cola and raspberry on the nose. Velvety but substantial mouthfeel. Earth, cherry, cranberry, and cola on the palate. The only thing holding this wine back for me was the noticeable heat on the palate (15% alc). We tasted this wine blind with three other 07 Cali Pinots, a 07 Oregon Pinot, and a 07 Grand Cru Burgundy. It was the WOTN for me.

Cherry pie, forest floor, and dried herbs on the nose. Good balance and very round. Cherry with a touch of earthiness on the palate. Not really complex but absolutely delicious.

Really nice even when warm. Complex mix of fruit on the nose. Apple, pear mice with tropical fruits. Exceptional balance with nice mix of fruit, acidity, and alcohol. Tropical fruit on the palate - grapefruit, pineapple. A little spice on the finish. Very nice wine.

At first, the nose made me think this was a Bordeaux varietal. Currant, blackberries, and really vegetal. Those flavors carried over to the palate, but the spicy finish gave it away as a syrah. The mouthfeel was lush and smooth, but I can't get past this "green" taste. Not a good QPR for me.

Drank cold. Very tropical on the nose. Pineapple, lemon, maybe honey. It got more "melony" has it warmed up. Palate was big lemon, oily mouthfeel. Spicy (white pepper) on the back end. Very nice effort.

Nose of bright cherry, vanilla, cloves, a little medicinal, and other spices I couldn't really pick out. Really extraordinary. On the palate, tart cherries move to earthy spice on the mid-palate, then to pepper on the finish. Amazing mouthfeel for such a young wine. Very nice, clean acidity makes this a fantastic food wine. Quite Burgundian as someone else pointed out. My first experience with Arista single vineyard did not disappoint. Outstanding wine.

Really nice nose of blended red fruit, earthy spice, and forest floor. Palate has a nice balance of acidity and fruit but is still wound up pretty tight at this stage. Definitely needs time but shows promise.

Didnt take detailed notes but this had plenty of bright red fruit but enough age to have a earthy feel. Very nice mouthfeel and balance. This can clearly age much more, but it's in a pretty good spot right now.

Still young, obviously, but I wanted to compare it to the Arista RRV. Didn't take detailed notes since I was at dinner , but I remember this one had a little more spice and less fruit than the RRV. I'm going to give this some more time and do another comparison later.

Tart cassis (almost sweetart smell), some tobacco, and menthol on the nose. Very round wine - the tannins were nicely balanced with great blue and black fruit. Medium finish. Very nice wine.

On the nose, it was a mix of dark black fruit with some blueberry from the PS. May also be a touch of black cherry. Very earthy with pencil shavings and lingering menthol. On the palate, black fruit with tannins still noticeable. Still has a velvety mouthfeel. Graphite and earthy minerality. Very distinctive with incredible balance. How did they keep this below 14% ABV?

This bottle is drinking exceptionally well right now. I didn't take detailed notes. A lot of dark fruit - boysenberries, blue and blackberries from the nose through the finish. Classic Petite Sirah. Exceptionally smooth tannins. Drink it if you got it - you won't be disappointed.

Interesting mix of blue and black fruit with dried herbs and menthol on the nose. Drying tannins with blackberry and a hint of oak. Not overly complex, but always great. Standard by which I judge all petite sirah.

Decanted and drank over about 4 hours. At the beginning, the nose was predominantly dark fruit (black and blueberries) with a clean minerality. Over time, the red fruit predominated with a kirsch cherry smell. Very nice. On the palate, the pepper carried all the way through with a long cherry finish. Personally, I really enjoyed this wine - quite a bargain.

Going from memory here. This was a solidly made wine. Not too green, the fruit was nice, and it had a great finish. I was excited about the prospects of Virginia wine, until I had "The Octagon."

Ok, I normally never would spend this much at a winery that I know nothing about - much less from a state where I've never had their wines. But, I rolled the dice thinking that at this price "hey, this must be the best they have to offer." I could not be more wrong. It's been a while since I've had a wine where it tasted like I was biting into a green pepper, but this one is it. One of the greenest wines I've ever had, and I've had many red wines from cooler regions. No rating - I want to believe that this was a bad bottle, but I don't think it is. I guess I should have just stuck to the Cab Franc.

On the nose, dusty blueberries and current with a touch of tobacco and leather. On the palate, very smooth but still has nice structure. A touch of green mixed in with the blue and black fruit. Very respectable finish. Possibly the best Bordeaux blend I've had from Santa Barbara County to date. Absolutely drinkable right now.

Didn't take detailed notes here. From what I can remember - black fruit, leather, and tobacco on the nose. I remember there being a little too much fruit here for me to think this was overly elegant. Decent mouthfeel - tannins were still pretty firm though. I think I overpaid a little for this - maybe that's why I'm not more impressed. Still a good bottle of inexpensive cab.

Much better this time around - maybe because it was the last bottle of the night. Cassis, blackberry, and healthy dose of oak (too healthy perhaps). Black fruit with teeth gripping tannins. A little hot too but seems more integrated this time around.

Dark wine. On the nose...very sweet blackberry, mocha, menthol and other spices. Nice mouthfeel and not overly concentrated. Blackberry with spice on the palate - easy tannins. Not a complex wine but a definite crowd pleaser.
