The beeswax and herbal flavor made me guess a Rioja. I believe no one guessed an aged Burg. Very good for what it is. |

Pungent nose. Big, robust and very energetic. A turbo-charged Riesling which no doubt needs some modesty. |

10/11/2011 - Dbrane wrote: 84 pointsCasual Dinner (Giant Garouper, Serangoon Road): Very dark. Tasted like an old world Cabernet. Very rich and robust though not in a modern way. Quite representative of the terroir. Can't find much to fault here yet does seem a bit anonymous. |

5/10/2014 - Dbrane wrote: 90 pointsDark garnet with a little bricking. Nose had quite distinctive green pepper notes (and slightly floral tones) which followed through the finish. Chilled and with some air this wine really came into its own. Fruity elements of cherries and plums emerged and overall the palate became more balanced with a decent finish. Drinking very well now. An excellent wine from a great vintage. |

9/1/2011 - Dbrane wrote: 90 pointsSean Birthday (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck): One word. Pure. Totally unadulterated from any oak or over-ripeness. This is a supremely classy effort which brings to mind what Burgundy is all about. Not a very structured wine. In fact it was rather soft and giving yet not flabby either. Young and primary as expected but certainly enjoyable now. I don't see much upside in aging this further as it is so drinkable now, especially if your palate leans towards young Burgundies. |

4/30/2015 - Dbrane wrote: 89 pointsDefinitely tasted like it had some age. Not Bordeaux but I found it slightly new-world in style. If not then a Spanish blend. Quite surprise that it was a Tignanello though on retrospect I guess I shouldn't be since I barely tasted much of this winery. Peaking now and drinking optimally. |

12/4/2010 - Dbrane wrote: 83 pointsA Morning of Informal Tastings (Lam Soon): This is completely secondary by now with loads of Chinese herbs and dried plums on both the nose and palate. I am sure this will hold well at this stage for more years to come, especially with the above average concentration, but I don't think it will evolve anymore. As interesting as this wine was, it did not give me the pleasure I am looking for in a wine. |

5/29/2011 - Dbrane wrote: 87 pointsSunday Afternoon after Cycling (Extra Space, Boon Keng, Singapore): This was actually drinking very well now. A classic claret from nowhere but Pauillac with not so much of the leafiness of Cabernet Sauvignon. Good concentration and smooth tannins. Fruits very much alive and delicious now with hints of leather, sous bois and wood. |

8/11/2014 - Dbrane wrote: 89 pointsTasted blind, this was in no way identifiable as a 2003. Looks like what I've been reading about the vintage is indeed true. The wines are surprisingly shedding their flabbiness. The Chaumes is drinking nicely now with unmistakable soil and spice elements of Vosne. Very balanced to be frank. This is not a large scale wine but a friendly and unpretentious Vosne 1er. |

4/30/2015 - Dbrane wrote: 88 pointsBlinded, I guessed a '04 Grand Cru. Bricking on the rims. The green herbaceous aromas of 2004 was present though not overwhelmingly strong in the beginning. Other than that the palate was intense, structured and very clean. The intensity and overall depth led me to guess a Grand Cru though I couldn't pinpoint the exact village as the greenness did mask other aspects of the terroir. A vintage marked wine rather than terroir. Quite enjoyable drinking now though unfortunately at the end of the dinner the nose became overwhelmingly green and herbal. |

7/25/2022 - Dbrane Likes this wine: NRLooks like no notes for this unicorn wine, so let me add in the first. From a small barrel only, ~300 bottles (with some in magnums and jeros) for this inaugural vintage. From a vineyard up on the plateau of Cornas, belonging to his wife's parents. Young vines. Aromatic on the nose, very lifted and perfumey. Palate is lightish for a Cornas, very elegant and approachable already. Almost a juicy wine, yet not veering towards "natural tasting". |
