NV Aberlour 12 Year Old Non-Chill Filtered Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 48%Speyside more |
3/18/2013 - FandL Likes this wine: 90 pointsa delicious version of the 12 year old. The extra percentage in ABV is not noticeable, and doesn't need additional water. Its less forceful than A'bunadh, but the elegant fruitiness and sherry on the nose and palate makes it a smooth sipping whisky. |

2006 Alfaro Family Syrah Ryan SpencerSanta Cruz Mountains more |
3/15/2014 - FandL Likes this wine: 92 pointsa very well made Syrah that is hearty enough to pair well with stronger cheeses and even pastrami. Fruit, acidity, and tannins working together harmoniously. Drinks fine now, but has legs to cellar for several years more. |

2007 Alma Rosa Pinot Noir La Encantada VineyardSta. Rita Hills more |
1/17/2013 - FandL Likes this wine: 89 pointsopened about an hour before serving. Dark ruby and medium weight. The nose picks up cherry, slight earthiness, and oak, but the latter has mellowed substantially from a few years ago. Similar notes on the palate. Paired well with baked salmon. |

2011 Apothic WhiteCalifornia White Blend more |
5/19/2013 - FandL wrote: 88 pointsThis is a VERY good white wine blend for $9. Drink it chilled. It has a light color and light-med body with no bite. Paired this wine with a pesto angel hair pasta topped with honey smoked salmon. Some foods are more challenging to pair with wine so I have been trying different blends to find one that works for things I make. So far, this is one that works for some of my "combo" dishes and for $9 a low risk to see if you'd like it too. |

NV Bowmore Legend Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 40%Islay more |
2/10/2013 - FandL Likes this wine: 83 pointsThis is the first expression of Bowmore that I've tried. Has medium peat and smoke on the nose and taste. A little thin on the mid palate, and somewhat short finish, but still a good value for an everyday Islay style whisky. |

NV Bulleit 95 Rye Small Batch American Whiskey, 45%Indiana more |
4/3/2014 - FandL Likes this wine: 89 pointsfirst bottle of rye whiskey. Sweet entry, with the spice and rye grain on the finish. The rye grain flavor is not that dominant. Being primarily a Scotch single malt drinker, I felt that it was more mellow than I was led to believe reading reviews about rye whiskey. Not as sweet as Bourbon, but similar in character. |
