2007 A to Z Wineworks Chardonnay Oregon

Pretty basic and bland Chardonnay.
Good hot weather wine or light Pinot Grigio alternative, not to be mistaken with a Pinot Gris' richer more extracted style.

Nice complex blend, not typical to see out of Oregon. Such a small amount of Pinot Noir seems to stand out pretty well in the finish.
Interesting, will try again.

A little off balance, no flavor until the finish starts.
Its not bad, but not that great when comparing side by side to other Pinot's.

Tasting a Vertical of Andrew Murray, 2005, 2006, 2007, single vineyards
Reminds me of a Sonoma or Russian River Carlisle upon opening. Major muted aroms, muted flavor- this one needs to decant for an extended period of time before maximum potential will be reached.
Decanted for 1 hours and 30 mintues so far. Cherry pie filling aromas are starting to stand out. On the palate, muted red fruits and slightly dry chalkiness. Estimating another 1.5 hours before the dry chalkiness blowd off and full flavor is reached.

Open for 3 hours now, and by far in its optimal drinking condition - the aromas have peaked and the flavors are very concentrated and silky smooth. Do not drink this wine unless you have at least 2.5 hours of breathing time or you will not understand this wine at all. Still somewhat lacking compared to 07 and
05.

Decanted so far for 2 hours ,aromas of blueberry pie, licorice, cherry, and flowers.
on the palate, rich and silky, concentrated blueberry fruit floral hints, with almost a cranberry tartness to a nice dry finish, this wine is outstanding and rivals some of the high rated Novys i've had. Reminds me of the 2007 Susan's hills Vineyard Novy, the longer this wine is open the more unbelievable it gets. ,

OK this wine has been open for 2.5 hours , Totally exceeding my expectations, 92 Points all day long

GET THIS WINE, LET IT BREATHE!
Optimum drinking period would be: decant for at least 2 hours to get to maximum drinking area, although it tastes fantastic from the start, let this one breathe and see what happens!!

upon opening, concetrated aromas, intense fruit on the palate with a huge oak finish, decanting to balance out flavors
1.5 hours open, aromas of chocolate covered cherries, coffee, asparagus, flowers and a creamy vanilla, on the palate ripe red fruits, chocolate mocha, pufumed flowers with lingering oak.
2.5 hours open, still very good, gaining a more concentrated charactor, flavors are starting to blend closer together verses the more distinct layers of flavor that accured an hour ago.
Optimum drinking window would be to drink 1 hour after decanting and enjoy until the second hour to enjoy this wine in its peak drinking condition.

What a great little sparkler!
To help avoid confusion with this blend, due to seeing several online retailer's all having different compositions of grapes that are used to make this wine, it is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 45% Grenache, and 5% Shiraz.

Upon opening.
On the nose: Hints of floral arrangements, tart and ripe red cherries, cinnamon, and spices.
On the palate, slightly tart red fruits burst on the palate accompanied by firm tannins, which then fades to a riper fruit char actor loaded with great minerality.

As the wine opens up over the coarse an hour in a decanter, you will receive a greater concentration in aroma the tannins level off, the minerality softens, leaving you with a very soft and elegant, true to the region French wine at an "Americanized" price point.

This Rivals many Rhone style blends at twice the price.
