No significant oak on the nose which I liked. ABV 14.5% but doesn't feel much sign of heat although showing concentration and hint of ripe red/blue fruits. Great balance with adequate acidity and secondary characters. Very easy to swallow. Unexpectedly good for CA pinot. |

Medium-light bodied with a good bit of acidity. It has that simple Merlot profile of stewed tart black cherries, tea, tomato leaf, and a hint of cedar. Still some tannins left. Medium short finish of black tea, nutmeg, and tart cherries. |

6/25/2021 - oldwines Likes this wine: 94 pointsThis was a gift to my wife from her boss for Christmas in 2017 and stored in a wine fridge since. Tasted over 6 hours. I am a big fan of the fruit from the Pisoni Vineyard but sometimes it is dealt with a heavy hand and excessive ripeness. This wine is well balanced, kissed with a little new oak, bright enough with acidity to keep it fresh and lively, as well as nicely fruited with flavors and aromas of cherry, pomegranate, strawberry and finished with some chocolate, spice (including but not limited to black pepper) and a persistent stony minerality. Very Old World in style. Lovely with grilled spice rubbed Salmon. Delicious! |
