Soft, deep black fruit, aniseed and vanilla with soft tannins and gentle acidity, full bodied, mature and stylish wine with lengthy liquorice flavoured finish.

excellent - had all the qualities of a rich well aged cab/shiraz but at the same time it was eligant like a Pinot. It had unusual notes of blueberry, violet and juniper berry - a light perfurmy eligance on top of the ripe red fruits. When I had dinners with a couple other aged bigger Mclaren Vales, at the end of the night this was the wine I finished first. It's eligance out shone the bigger personalities.

What a sleeper of a wine - I rarely drink this wine but it always positively surprises. Initially a bit sweet, almost syrupy, but this blew off to reveal a very good wine. It stood proudly with some excellent Bordeaux, top Nth Rhône & Aussie 1st Classifieds. Plum, chocolate, pepper, dry herbs. Lovely balance and structure.

Clearly should have been opened long ago. Practically vinegar. Dumped it. Received as a gift so do not know how it was stored.

About the same as on last tasting in 2022. Past its prime but still enjoyable. Some find sediment, needed filtering. Still some tannins left, and vs. previous bottle the fruit now seems stronger but somewhat stewed. This was my last bottle. If you have any left, drink up!

Aging gracefully, I'd say. Still rich on the nose, fresh on the palate, and deeply coloured. Lots of primary blackberry fruit, but also secondary notes of leather, earth, smoke, white pepper, and graphite on the finish. Juicy mouthfeel, attractive tannins, a balanced wine that was unmistakably an aussie shiraz but elegantly so.

Had a glass using a Corbin needle. The cork was not sufficiently fixed and moved under the gas pressure. I thought the wine would be oxidised and faulty, however it was still fresh and great to drink. Sad to say it is my last bottle. The wine, deep garnet with cherry spice and oak on the nose. Still retaining some juicy cooked fruit in the pallet with well integrated tannins with chocolate coffee and leather. Drinking very well. All in n all a lovely wine. A.

Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Pre X-Mas tasting (Private Location): Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Tasted double blind. Clear, medium deep garnet. Intersting nose, some menthol, cool, ethereal.
On the palate quite fine, despite the 14,5% abv rather elegant, fruity, spicy, some menthol and spices. A bit lean, nice texture and good length. Drinks nicely still. 91

Purchased way back when and perfectly cellared. Purple color with a red/blue tinted rim. Scents of cedar, cranberry, vanilla and cement lifted by a touch of VA, although this is complementary rather than vinegary. On the palate the tannins seem to be fully resolved. As I remember, this was a tannic beast in its youth. Now its fruit and flavor are carried by a good level of acidity. Finishes smooth, but lively, and a bit dry with fine grained tannins and cranberry flavors on the medium length finish. On a long slow decline as the once powerful blue - black fruit has faded. Best as an accompaniment to a piece of grilled beef. Old style Aussie Shiraz.

After a couple of days in the open bottle under a blanket of argon this has evolved positively. The fruit has come forward with a mouthful of juicy black raspberry. The acidity has calmed down and integrated as has the cedary oak both now in a supporting role leaving the wine much more balanced and enjoyable. This still has a long life ahead of it. Score revised upward to 90.

It’s become a little more transparent. Not much Brown for its age. Decanted for 1/2 hour. Had. A eucalyptus nose. There was no fruit left. Acid was still there and it could’ve actually stayed in the cellar longer without going flat. Enjoyed it with homemade pizza.

Cork crumbled. Despite this, in good shape, showing à little brown on rim

Decanted 30 minutes

Still a touch of eucalyptus, clearly Oz, but into tertiary flavours. Mudgee has a nice balance of shiraz and cab, really sang with French and Spanish cheeses

Sad to think this is probably my last Rosemount

The Grenache dominance is identifiable as there's a red fruit profile of raspberry and strawberry with a slightly syrupy/cordial character. A bit of herbaceousness probably from the Shiraz or Mouvedre. Smooth drinking, not a lot of tannins. Well made, nothing offensive about it, but also fairly unexceptional.

I guessed 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon but didn't' get any further than it being Australian possibly Coonawarra
