Odd is the main feeling I get as the floral aromatics are grounded by the earthy, green points. Rose hips, dried strawberry. Not much structure or precision. There is a charm here and the wine is almost too eager to please. The finish is sticky and has a dulling effect which pulls down the whole effect. (148 views)

Alas, this wine is starting to show some seams which I felt but didn't express in my past two tastings of it (2/09 and 4/09). “Jorro-Ma” is that ultra-traditional Italian grape Syrah. Nice colour. After being open a bit, it develops some nice earthy tones and musk on the nose. Narrow on the palate and marred by a saccharine element. Some nice acids form the body though. Label says 12% abv, but shows way more legs. If it lost the r.s. (residual sugar) I am convinced is in there both from taste and body, it would be a nice wine. (150 views)

Interesting. This wine has a lowly 12% abv and an optic that displays it. It is also packed with a density of flavor which is suprising. Solid ripeness and clarity. Alas, there is a slathering oak spice and menthol which I find detrimental. Running through an aerator funnel ameliorated this for a short while. Nice aromatics developed including the bright sides of Cab Franc. Nice acids keep this on keel. This isn't my style of wine, but this is a very worthwhile effort which I suspect would appeal to more modern-styled palates. (188 views)
