Subtle, pleasant nose of forest floor, smoke, dark chocolate and plum which gradually emerged with air and time. No noticeable heat, rich silky tannins with just a touch of velvety grip. Well-integrated acidity. Oak still a bit obtrusive, but a few more years should help that. Cranberry, cherry and blueberry fruit on the palate, with dried oak, green bell pepper with notes of minerals, balsamic vinaigrette and vanilla. Lingering finish. I think I picked this up on close-out, but even at $30, great QPR, and I think this will continue to improve over the next few years. |
