2010 Lorenzo Accomasso Barbera d'Alba Pochi Filagnmore |
2/13/2016 - ChazGeorgetown14 wrote: NRRipe and deep for the vintage with predominantly blackberry fruit and a rustic edge of pete and brine. Surprisingly reminiscent of the '09 I tasted at Accomasso's house about a year ago, this 2010 has a decidedly dark profile verging on the edge of prune. While would prefer a bit more red fruit and clarity (a la B. Mascarello), this retains lovely balance and is an undeniably classic wine. Nearly impossible to find, this is for those who really have a passion for traditional Piedmont and the unsung characters of this magical place. |

4/16/2016 - Drankard Does not like this wine: NRIn my experience, there are only two producers that make excellent Freisa and its not Burlotto. After one sip of this wine I immediately put this down and could not finish it. Not that it was bad but based on the fruit profile. It has an intense grapey/currant flavors with bretty undertones. This is not for me.

Whenever I serve this to guests it is very popular! Barolo, Musigny style! Early in its drinking window. Outstanding.

10/3/2015 - Chaz Bham wrote: NRAt Eleven Madison Park, NYC. After contacting the sommelier beforehand, he graciously agreed to open a bottle 6 hours before the dinner hour, as I was not too enthused about drinking this quite so young. It allowed me my first trial of a top tier Barolo from the 2010 vintage. Infanticide, really. The 6 hours of air time allowed the nose and palate to open up somewhat, but the features of youth were just too strong to overcome. It was obvious that the material was excellent, and prepared for the long run. The quality of fruit, balance of acidity, restraint, and elements in the right places. All that is needed is time for all this to come together.

9/9/2016 - NostraBacchus Likes this wine: 91 pointsDuring visit. Perfumed notes of red fruits, sweet strawberries, also some tart raspberries, crushed flowers, leaves an overall sweet but sappy impression. It's lighter-medium bodied with pretty high acidity and medium tannin. Good length. A weightless, cool and precise Nebbiolo with a lot of tension.

12/13/2016 - Finare Vinare wrote: 94 pointsBeautiful nose, floral and red-berried - like smelling a rose in the moment of its bursting into blossom while crushing a newly picked wild raspberry between your fingers. There are darker layers of liquorice underneath, but no discernible wood. It is all very clean and well defined. On the palate elegantly built, perfectly balanced already, and fully accessible, with open-knit fruity flavours and fine, gently grippy tannins. The 14,5 % make no fuss whatsoever. Obviously a barolo for barbaresco and burgundy lovers, and lovers of the ''oldschool" style in the best sense of the word. Although it should keep and develop, it's actually hard to see how to improve upon these wonderful impressions, so we'll probably finish our remaining bottles over the next year or two.

2/2/2017 - Eric Guido Likes this wine: 92 pointsThe nose was refined with a dark red raspberry and crushed strawberry persona, leading to dusty spices and floral tones in an amazingly fresh performance. On the palate, it was lifted with dried cherry, a dusting of spice and refined tannin. It finished savory and long with tart berry and minerals. The ‘15 Nebbiolo could have a very bright future.

2/4/2017 - JonnyG Likes this wine: 90 points2012 Vinous Master Class in Barolo (Del Posto, New York): Not my favorite style (despite the evident quality), this was too light-bodied and sweet for my palate, feminine if you will, with lively acidity balancing the sweet red fruit. Long finish.

2012 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo BrunateNebbiolo more |
2/4/2017 - Eric Guido Likes this wine: 94 pointsFrankly, the only drawback to the 2012 Brunate is that it’s so good today that most people may drink them before they ever hit their prime. Here i found a gorgeous mix of dark earth, dusty minerals, ripe cherry, and strawberry fruits, with haunting dark floral tones. On the palate, let’s just say that a young Barolo has no business being this balanced and enjoyable. Soft, enveloping textures with a mix of stimulating acidity and fine tannin, gave way to pure cherry, strawberry and plum, with earthy minerals swirling throughout, providing a savory balance. The finish was long with sweet spice, licorice and inner floral tones. Wow!

3/11/2017 - dcwino wrote: 96 pointsThe producer that I wasn’t familiar with until my recent visit with Fabio. I was extremely impressed by the wine that I tried to source them upon my return. Unfortunately, I was only able to find two bottles. Pop and pour, subtle red fruit driven nose, fresh strawberry, cherry, rose and iron. Very polished and elegant palate that can be easily confused as soft and straightforward. The second day, more expressive red fruit, cherry and strawberry, sweet spices, a hint of animal, rose and earth. Very precise and elegant, nicely layered, candied cherry driven palate impression, good acidity, strong presence of iron/mineral and a long mineral driven finish. The third night, it gains even more weight, the expression becoming similar to the bottle tasted with Fabio. Subtle yet decadent red fruit, strawberry, cherry, blackberry jam, sweet spices, rose, sap, iron and earth. The palate remains very polished and elegant, lots of mineral/iron and a long seamless finish. Certain not trying to offend the hardcore Barolo lovers but I use “Burgundian” to describe the very precise, elegant and polished palate and this is very “Burgundian or more specific, Bonnes Mares like”. Quite enjoyable and very fascinating.

3/30/2019 - Eric Guido Likes this wine: 93 pointsThe nose was remarkably pretty, showing dried roses, hinting at savory herbs with tart cherry and strawberries, giving way to cedar, floral undergrowth and hints of animal musk. On the palate, soft textures flooded the senses, as zesty spice and mineral-infused black cherry saturated, before a wave of fine tannin settled in. The finish was long structured and spicy, with lingering brisk acids providing balance and hints of balsamic spice slowly fading.

2/14/2016 6:44:00 AM - Sorry for the confusion. I mentioned Canonica as a frame of reference for its scarcity, but I did not source my Accomasso stateside. Occasionally however, they pop up at auction and I've also heard that Chambers St Wines in NYC might get some 2007 Barolo. Happy hunting!

2/16/2016 7:23:00 PM - My fiancé and I bumped into Canonica outside il Quarto Stato once but we haven't made a cellar visit. Getting ready for our annual pilgrimage to Barolo in the spring. Shoot me an email, I'd like to know more about your visit. chazramos@hotmail.com
